Default My declaration-Arlington Million

If English Channel beats this field on Saturday, I will have as my signature for the rest of my time on this board the following quote.

"English Channel is a bad mother****er who showed the Europeans who is boss"

I will also never doubt him again, and defend him against all nay-sayers.

Same goes for Showing Up if he beats Primary in the Secretariat.

Showing Up will win easily. He is much better than the other horses.

English Channel is an excellent horse but so are the others. He could easily lose if he gets a little bad racing luck.

When Showing Up beats the older horses than he will take on the real europeans. Not the second string they send over for this weekend.

I agree, I dont see Showing Up losing to any of those horses. I think Showing Up at even money is better value than Go Between at 5/2.

As far as English Channel goes, hes in a race where about 8 horses could win, none of them being a total shocker. Horse with best trip wins, end of story. There is no horse in this race heads and shoulders above the rest. Your kidding yourselves if you think there is. What an awesome race to bet and watch.

The Beverly D, in my opinion is the race to take a shot against the favorites. Gorella isnt at her best distance and I dont think here kick will be all that explosive going this far. Honey Ryder may not get the pace she needs and her price wont be any higher than 7/2. Film Maker is stuck way on the outside and seems to have a habit of coming up short in the big races. I think tomorrow will be yet another one. I like Rich in Spirit at a price.

Not to give any secrets but the value in this race is Proudinsky.

3rd race in the states, improving numbers, solid race over the course, 1st time Frankel(move up trainer) and gets Prado. While I am not sure yet if he can beat Showing Up, he is a SOLID 2nd choice....SOLID as in a 1 with 2 with 3,4,5,6 Tri might be my play of the day. I actually like Niagara Causeway to possibly get 3rd here so that will help the tri payoff.

Have to cruise up to Arlington to get my program, will have a full analysis of this impossible card by 9pm tonight (Bears start at 9pm)

I hope you don't plan on wasting too much money. Showing Up is better now than he has ever been.

That might not be enough, unfortunately.

Sentimentally ...

... I've got to root for Go Deputy ... because there aren't many G1 horses left who are out of Secretariat mares.

But make sure that Soldier Hollow is in your exotics.

showing up is one heck of a horse...but we all know only about 1/3 of faves win. and he'll be the fave, so no value at all. and of course go deputy could beat him.

also finding it hard to root for showing up these days....hysterical fanaticism for this horse from certain circles. of course that isn't the horses fault.

I have not quite reached that point yet with Showing Up....but I know what you mean. Overblown fanaticism can turn you off a horse. Just remember that he can't possibly win an eclipse award for best 3yo or HOY even if he wins today by 10 lengths, wins the rest of his races this year up to the BC by 10 lengths, and then wins the BC Turf by 15 lengths in world record time. Why wouldn't he win those awards if he did all that? Well I am not really sure, but people on this board already gave Bernardini those awards after he defeated the mighty Sunriver, so I guess Showing Up would be SOL.

SU did look mighty good in his first trip on the turf. To me this race is a "bet small or skip altogether" race. SU looked too good his one time on the grass for me to try to beat him, but Go Between and Primary are quality horses and I wouldn't be shocked if they beat him here. I like the other two races more.

Mood....EC is in for the fight of his life today. We all know how I feel about him. It just does my heart good to see the talent in him last year and watch how much he has improved as a 3YO. Win or lose today, he is and always will be my favorite horse of all time.

I do agree with you on Primary, I clearly think he is the one to beat in the Secretariat. SU is in for a big surprise today.

I like Go Deputy in the Sword Dancer. Relaxed Gesture should win which is why I don't think he will.

Ace, Primary, Afrashad and Rising Cross in the rest.

Good luck to all.

I know exactly how you feel. Best of luck, to you and to him.

Awfully nice horse with a huge shot today.

Come home safe, everybody.

A loss today would do NOTHING to dimish the great year he has already had. I still think he wins today....because I am wearing my Point Given hat today and EC ALWAYS wins when I where my PG hat. I wore my EC hat 1 time this year when he race and that was the only race he lost.

Quick! Somebody! Hide the hat right before the race so that Ace...

If he wins, I'll think of you. If Phoenix Reach wins, I'll be happy, The Tin Man too. Gotta love those older guys, especially the ones who came back from horrible injuries (PR).

Ace wins? Don't be alarmed by any loud sounds you hear. It's just me, screaming.
