![]() People are starting to see that Joe Talamo isn't really all that good. Got the best horse in trouble again. I bet Carla Gains goes back to Victor Esponoza.

![]() I'm still trying to figure out how one mount, on a horse that clearly wanted no part of the surface, can cause one to jump to this amazing conclusion about Talamo's ability or lack thereof. I for one will take that action on C. Gaines abandoning Talamo for Espinoza if the OP is still offering

—trainer Carla Gaines sounds a what-might-have-been note for Nashoba's Key "poor choice to stay inside when he had the chance to get outside early" Mike Wellman "What were you thinking Joe?" ![]() On another note, could we see a Rags vs. Magnificence vs. Nashoba's Key matchup next year on the cushion at SA?? Or will she stay on turf

![]() I thought Nashoba's Key's trip was fine.
Compared to half the other horses in that field it was an excellent trip. Precious Kitten had a nice one! I was surprised Nashoba's Key had a top four finish...coming into that race she was my 3rd or 4th throwout. |

![]() Dont forget that this was her first race at the distance also. She has never raced on a turf course less than firm and has faced 4 and 6 horse fields or cal breds in her 7 races. Her trip was fine as you sometimes have no choice but to save ground when you break from an inside post. She was clear early in the stretch and had no real late kick. It is not as though she was running over the top of horses and never got clear. On the turf I will take that trip every time. As a matter of fact she raced in the same path as the winners of the turf and mile who had considerably more horse down the stretch. Blame the jockey if you want but she just wasn't good enough.

![]() No one that's ever ridden a race would have won on Nashoba's Key. She couldn't handle the footing and that's all there is to it.

The conditions on that turf course were impossible. Potholes and treacherous footing, et al... Treating whatever happened in those events as if they were run under anything close to normal grass racing conditions is a waste of breath.
