Surely Lil E Tee, Casual Lies, and Dance Floor were all great enough to make it to the classic that year. If they didn't do it, I don't see how any other group could do it. |

![]() Lawyer Ron was keen yeserday, but we cannot say for sure if that habit cost him the race.
I think we did see that he does just about get home over ten furlongs, but we also saw that there are others that stay that distance better than he does. We know that both Street Sense and Curlin stay this trip very well, and althought AGS is yet to be tested over it, i think he will also stay ten furlongs without much problem. Until they prove it though, it is difficult to tell. Lawyer Ron has used that burst of speed at about the mile pole to good advantage so far this year, and it looked as though that had worked yesterday for about half a furlong. Alborado seemed a bit shocked at first with how quickly Lawyer Ron took a length out of him turning into the straight, but Curlin is a stayer, the further they went, the better he looked in my opinion. A furlong seems like such a small distance for a horse, that it shouldn't make too much of a difference, but to horses that have a sudden turn of foot, like Lawyer Ron, that added furlong is hell. You can question the jockey and ask him why he doesn't delay 'pushing the button' on him, but if he did that he might be caught in no mans land and then find he doesn't quite get to the lead in time. I'd love to see Lawyer Ron win the Classic, but i just think we will see the same result, where he will be picked off by at least one horse close to the wire.
