![]() Deep closers don't typically win up the rail....they have to split horses and circle around horses. The 2nd race winner stalked in 3rd, and sneaked up the rail to win by 2 lengths and 9/5 odds in race #2.
Two of the nine races were won by horses who came from off-the-pace, and won up the rail. Another two races were won by horses who went wire-to-wire...I'm going to assume you'll say those two horses weren't on the rail? They both had inside position, and the horses who tried coming around them got beaten off. |

In race #2, the horse did not sneak up the rail, he was much the best the winner early on in the race. He also got off the rail a bit and seemed to be in the 2 path all through the stretch. Watch the horses that didn't win the race, that finished 3rd or worse. The ones on the rail lost ground, the ones trying to close on the rail couldn't make up any ground, while the ones towards the center of the track were able too. Just forget about the winners and watch that. |

You have mellowed from the olden days of AOL. I am not saying that is a bad thing, by the way.... |

![]() Before the race, Borel or not, I was expecting Street Sense to win on the outside in the stretch.
The inside is risky you can get stopped. The danger with the outside move is that it requires an earlier commitment and would leave SS with more to do in the lane, but I thought he was good enough. With ground loss and an earlier move it would have been extremely close between the top 2. Borel made a great move in hindsight. 20 questions: What happens if Stormello goes to the lead? How does that change the entire set-up? What if Curlin is follows Sedgefield into the pocket right out of the gate? ... |

Finger Lakes to me, is either Central or Western, NY. Albany/Adirondacks north, Upstate. Syracuse, Central. Roch/Buffalo, Western. Binghampton/Elmira/Catskills, Southern. This is an debate that can go on and on. I just started saying I am from VT, since I am closer to VT then any place that gets thrown at you when you say you are from NY or Upstate, NY. "Oh Saratoga/Lake George, that's near Niagara Falls right? Oh it is not? Oh so near the City are you?." |

I worked in slate quarries during junior and senior high school, and then worked for NYRA cleaning up the backsides at Saratoga (bathrooms, dorms, hauling trash, etc) in the summers. Then I went to college. I worked full-time jobs during those years too, so I didn't have to just take out too many student loans. Got a degree and am now in the working world, with a decent job. No silver spoon for me, but thank you for the benighted comment. Best regards to you sir. |

I have witnessed DrugS for years several years on the internet, going back to the AOL message boards of long ago. I have never seen anyone who could consistently come up with such astounding insights about horse racing. Racing is a little like baseball--most of the time your are not getting on base. But the DrugSter was like frickin' Ty Cobb or Ted Williams compared to 99% of the posters I've seen. Since I am new here I cannot be too quick to judge, but I will sit back and see how well the loudmouthed table-pounders here can duplicate his feats. Anybody can cash Derby tickets on the favorite over the 4th and 2nd choices (hell, even I did that--and made a profit). But when you relentlessly tout Invisible Ink in the exotics for weeks, in the face of much ridicule, let me know. |
