![]() Do you guys ever notice the psychology of beginning certain threads? Like this one... if i begin with my opinion I'm afraid it'll come off like well-here-you-go-world-here's my-graaaaand-point-of-view. How annoying.
If i begin it with a question though, i risk looking like an imbecile... So I'll skip the preface (... uh oh, disregard that part ![]() I do..... I'll go to HP or SA and even on a big race day, if some of my silly, sentimental favorites are there it makes the day even more fun. I can't even guess how many i follow, but first or last, i always get a kick out of seeing them. Flashes of brilliance combined with you-know-when-you-just-wanna-scream-and-bang-your-head-against-the-wall- frustration..... gotta love them! ![]() Grey Misty, Two Turn Halo, Redmeansgo... if i list them all this thread will go on for pages. Who are some of your favorites? |

![]() It's got to be Slider for me.
Still going strong at 8 (crushing the 5k starter allowance again yesterday) for my favorite low level claiming duo of Billy Hays and Joe Woodard. |

![]() I have two, Slammin Sam who showed a few flashes of talent at three when he was stakes placed before tailing off and dropping into claimers. He still runs well from time to time--though not since his last claim.
The other is T.K's Honour who bobs back and forth it seems from a/oc and straight claimers. An honest horse who wins when he is placed right.

![]() Here in northern California my favorite claimer is a cheap $4k horse named Proud Patrolman - I think he's 8 y.o. and he's still winning (just won on the fair circuit this week and paid $5.60)... I used to be a cop so I guess that's why I've paid attention to him... I also really like Robs Coin at the SoCal tracks because it seems that whenever he goes off at long odds he's in the money...

![]() He's not always in for a price, but Spooky Mulder spent most of his career as a claimer (started out at Turfway, claimed and sent to NY).
But my favorite has to be Tubby Cat, who was at one time (part-)owned by some friends of mine. He won three in a row for them after they claimed him (I'm in one of his winner's circle photos), continued to run well for new connections after they lost him. He's now 9 and just won a $5K claimer in Oklahoma; if there were more starter races at 10f, he'd probably have more lifetime wins. |

![]() I like "Work", who used to be/still is with Ron Moquett.
That poor horse always looks like he is about to die in the paddock, and usually runs a clunker. But every once in a while he will pop up and win. There is another named "Microbodgit" who I have followed for a couple of years. Poor little thing never wins either but I scored on her at Keeneland in the fall a couple of years ago. Also, Jason Reed had a horse at Keeneland named Mechanic that I think ended up on the Mid-Atlantic circuit and I used to like him a whole lot. |

![]() As discussed last week, West End Lady put me in the winners circle for the first time last week.
Another horse I have a share in, Social Account goes tomorrow as the favorite in the 6th at Penn National.

![]() well good luck. she recently retired but Bewitching Eyes (129-18-17-13) was my fav claimer. i have a few others i like, winning mares with super pedigrees and some overlooked stallion prospects.
