Default Trainers

Alot of complaints are regestered in the forum about trainers ruining colts trying to prepare them for the Derby and triple crown. The one traier that always seems to get a free pass is Pletcher. Last year the most prevelant idea was that it was Pletchers year.So many an so much quality. One of them had to win. Just pick one. We all know the results. Second and not the brass ring. Im not pointing out his failure in not winning. Can anyone report any of his top 3yrolds returning for there 4 yr old season as a serious contender in any of the big stakes races upcomming?

High Cotton flashed moments of being a decent runner and no word of retirement yet, maybe he will come back strong? They were advertising Bluegrass Cat as "bred to be a sire" long before he ever got a boo-boo ( ) so I never expected to see him again.

All of them were touted sd potential but where are they now. I have always been a defender of Pletcher but what happened to this powerhous 3yrond stable last year. I backed BG cat with several future bets. If you read in the espn forum I was a big fan of Keyed entry. I never heard a reason for not trying Keyed entry in the sprints after his failure in the classic distance. Just a lot of questions about his allstar 3yr olds last year. It appears he has all the excuses and is always given the free pass.

No I get what you are saying. Didn't he have like 20 or so more horses nominated to the Triple Crown than any other trainer? I think the fact that it is Pletcher though, most of these horses go over-rated and tail off by their 3 year old season. The only really good one he had as a 3 year old was Bluegrass Cat and we touched upon him. Didn't he try Keyed Entry back once after the classics, or am I confusing him with someone else?

Baffert on the other hand... Although Bob and John, Sinister Minister and Point Determined all went off way over-bet in my opinion and all three of them post bullets at a regular basis but none of them are actually racing. Bob and John did retreat terribly in his one start this summer. Horse needs some confidence or something.

Keyed Entry ran in the Dwyer that was won by Strong Contender.

Default Keyed Entry

KE has been working fairly regularly over the past two months or so. I've deleted the "watch" emails I received but I think most recently he went 5f at Palm Meadows late last week or early this week. I'd like to see what kind of sprinter he could become; hope he gets a chance.

Mybe they are looking for a wet fast 7f race. He did shine in that one even after he blew the start.

Pletcher tends to get a pass from media and fans. Horses vanish from his barn all the time. They tend not to be noticed as the stalls are always filled with replacement stock of impeccable breeding and potential. Over the last few seasons he's won an enormous number of 2yo MSW's are Saratoga with horses that were never seen again.

I didn't know "hanging" and "decent" could go together when speaking of race performance.

Awful, the horse got to the middle of the stretch and didn't know what do do with himself.

I remember the guys in the Box next to us at Saratoga had this look on their face , I think that look pretty much described his performance.

Watched the race again and although he didn't retreat as bad as I thought, that race was his for the taking and he showed zero heart in the stretch and I would not call that a decent performance.
