![]() Dwayne Wade is better than Clyde Drexler by virtually every possible measurement. It really isnt that close.
Iverson is such a different type of player as he later in his career was more of a shoot first PG. The issue with Iverson versus Wade is that Iverson took so many bad shots, took way too many 3 point shots despite rarely making much above 30% of them and gambled all the time on defense which helped get him a lot of steals but also left him out of position plus he was really too small to guard other SG's which of course has to be a big mark against him. In virtually any scenario where you are starting a team and choosing a SG other than Jordan, Kobe or West I can't think of anyone who wouldn't take an in his prime Wade over an in his prime Iverson. He is just a better player than Iverson. |

AI lead the league in scoring four times and won a league MVP award. Can Wade make either claim? |

I guess averaging 28-6-6 and being named Finals MVP on the winning team no longer impresses you? You think AI being an unrepentant gunner makes him a better player than Wade because he led the league in scoring? AI also led the league in missed shots virtually every year he played. Iverson only led the league in scoring because he took WAY more shots than everyone else, not because he was more efficient that everyone else. Ever take a look at his shooting percentages? What about the year he went 11-27 for the season? What about taking 4.5 3 point shots a game despite hitting less than 30%? Wade's worst season FG% is far better than any of Iverson's best. Wade led the league in scoring in 08-09 averaging 30.4 while shooting 49%. Using advanced stats the gap is even larger. Wade has 99.5 Win Shares (similar to WAR in baseball)for his career in 662 games. Iverson has 99 in 914 games. That is a HUGE difference. Basically Wade has already surpassed Iversons career and probably still has at least 3 or 4 seasons left. Going by PER a measure of per minute production, Wade for his career has an avg score of 25.6. Iverson's number is 20.9. A significant difference. You compare the players to each other and Wade is the better SG. He can obviously play off of a dominant ball handler and also be the dominant ball handler. AI, no way can he play off the ball. Wade is a more complete player, more efficient player and far more well rounded player. |

He had 2 different years where he made zero 3 point shots which is a bit bizarre considering he was leading the league in scoring one of the years. He only took more than 100 3pters in 1 season. MJ 5 times led the league in scoring while shooting higher than .500 from the field. |
