I've read his very sad story, but did anyone see any of his races?

I wasn't a fan of the sport at that time, but remember the race in which he broken down. It was my senior year in school, many of my classmates were big race fans. We were watching the race at my friends house, now remember this was my senior year and all we did was party. I had a few to drink, saw what happened and was sick to my stomach. It would be about four year's later that I started really getting into racing. But that day, I'll never forget.

I often think about why more people aren't into the sport and how that could change...was seeing the breakdown what kept you from being a fan of the sport or were you too busy partying?

At the time, I guess partying was more important. I didn't really get involved until I met a co-worker who was a full time player. My family made trips to Saratoga, my dad played the Triple Crown races and my Grandma (god rest her soul) was a dollar, name bettor.
I often wonder why the sport has interested me so much.

I often wonder why more people aren't interested...racing takes my breath away. Beauty, pagentry, history, excitement...

I once read a proposal for a book that someone was writing on another forum on Timely Writer and it was so interesting. I wasn't able to find much online, but I did find this, most of which is more of a history of Suffolk Downs. Some really interesting old photographs too.

I saw all his 2YO races at Saratoga. Unfortunately I went to college shortly after and didn't see a lot more of his races as that was a brief time I didn't follow racing extremely closely.

I do remember when he sadly broke down.
