![]() We all love to share bad beat stories. We remember them for years, but can never remember the story when we were on the other end. Here is a good one instead of a bad one.
I brought a bunch of rookies out to GLD. I love bringing new people out to the track, but as we all know they expect us to make them a grand in the first race. I spend the whole night catering to them, making sure they win a few bucks. I finally slip away with 2 minutes to post at my favorite low-class harness track. I ask my buddy to see his program. I bet a $24 superfecta ticket. I miss the race since the rookies wanted my opinion on something. I look up and the winner I do not have on my ticket at all. No big deal, we've all been there, but there is an inquiry sign up. I watch the stretch replay and the winner broke stride coming to the finish line. Doesn't help me, they will move him down to second. I look up and they do. The inquiry sign is stilll up on the horse!!! I watch the full replay and he interfered with a horse earlier. They drop him the rest of the way off the ticket. The Super paid $2,400. Not huge, but the pool was under $3,000. Thats right, one winner!!!!!!!!! Share some other GOOD BEATS |

![]() I have two memorable ones...
Breeders Cup Day and I'm playing online. I'm still half asleep when I put the first tri wheel in for race 1, when I really wanted to play the first BC race. Hit a triple over $1200. Derby 1993. Still a novice to the track at that point. Had $60 with which I wanted to play six $10 exactas...nearing post time at Churchill, I find one window with a short line. Getting to the front, I realize it's the $50 window, so I let all $60 ride on the Sea Hero/ Prarie Bayou straight. Nearly $6k winner when, I would have been about $1k.
