Default ??????????? Liscense????????????

Do trainers ,owners, etc , need to be liscensed in each state or do the various states recognize the other states liscense? I am wondering about the return of Asmussen this week and how many liscense and what the process is. Briefly could we expect to see him listed as trainer anywhere this week?

Asmussen has a 2nd 6 month suspension to serve yet. That might be under appeal, but I don't think you'll see his name showing up as the trainer of record on his horses any time soon.

Although trainers have to maintain licenses in the various jurisdictions they run, states are reciprocal in honoring suspensions from each other. Basically, Asmussen's license is suspended 'universally'...

Not sure.. Do a search for Asmussen on Blood-Horse, DRF or T-Times to see what the latest was. I think something was reported on it before Xmas...

yeah you needa get licensed in each state you run in. im licensed here in illinois, indiana and minnesota LOL. you can pay a little bit more tho and getta license which will cover you in most states. much better to do this if you know youre gonna be running outside your homestate, then you dont have to go through the hassle of going into the licensing office everywhere and getting fingerprinted. also i believe your prints are good for 5 years

asmussen will still have 1 1/2 months to go in new mex after the original six months is up....new mex is counting their suspension as being ongoing NOW, but they didn't start theirs at the exact same time as LA...asmussen tried to get them to change the last 6 weeks to probation, nm said no.

but since everyone suspends you if someone does, he won't be back--that must be the end of the LA suspension.

I think it's a joke. It's like taking the written exam for your driving test. They need to make the trainers test more thorough to help deter some of the clowns from deciding to try their hat at training. They give this industry a bad rep along with making it hard for the good trainers to earn an honest living.
