Default 🏇 Kentucky Derby Daydreams 🏇

🐎 KENTUCKY DERBY DAYDREAMS 🐎

IF IT'S ONE THING I'VE LEARNED
OVER MANY RACING YEARS
IS TO JUST GO WITH MY HEART
WHICH OFTEN BRINGS TEARS

BUT THEN IN SOME YEARS
IT ALL WORKS OUT RIGHT
WHEN MY LONG-SHOT COMES THRU
AND MY HEART SING ALL NITE 🎶

SILVER CHARM, CHARISMATIC
GIACOMO ~ MY SWEET GRAY
THUNDER GULCH & GRINDSTONE
FOR ME THEY DID PAY!
$$$$$

SO FOR THOSE WHO PLAY CHALK
A WIN SOMETIMES WILL BRING
BUT FOR ME TIZ A LONG-SHOT
THAT MAKES MY HEART SING! 🎶

THE WEATHER, THE NOISE, THE DRAMA
THESE 3 YEAR OLDS WILL FACE
SO ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN
IN A 20-HORSE FIELD RACE!

I'M TOTALLY AGAINST 20
14 IT SHOULD ALWAYS BE
BUT 'TRADITION' TRUMPS SAFETY
THAT'S ALL THAT THEY CAN SEE

SO WIN, LOSE OR TIE
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING OF ALL
IS THAT 20 ALL STAY SAFE
AND NOT ONE HORSE WILL EVER FALL!

Secretariat made me love horse racing. I was 14 when he won the Triple Crown and showed the world there was no match for him. There's never been another like him. HIs legacy goes on through his amazing offspring. He came from horse racing royalty...Pharos, Nearco and Nasrullah on his sire's side, Polymelian and Princequillo on his dam's side. His female offspring carried his line to victory. Terlingua with Chapel of Dreams and Storm Cat, Weekend Surprise with AP Indy, who died in 2020 at 30 years old. His progeny are excellent on dirt or turf. This "family" is truly one of the greatest. #GOAT

Yes, I'm a huge Storm Cat fan and all of his proginy. Patty and I visited the farms in Kentucky, I blieve some time around 20+ years ago and was lucky enough to get my picture taken standing next to Storm Cat at Taylor Made.

Glad for your sake that Cyclone Mischief drew in, even if it means losing a horse that I thought could be a legitimate contender in Practical Move. I had sort of expected to hear that Lord Miles might be scratched because of all of the other problems in the Saffie Joseph barn, but it seems as if they haven't pulled the plug yet. Lots of other scratches from the Joseph barn in other races.
