DON JUAN
“… Thanks Ruff, ya got me again. ”
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Considering All U Have To Deal With
Almost Hate To Let Ya Know
My ## is 86 Not 96
Although I Would Be Delighted With 10 More

IF POINTS SYSTEM SCORING
WERE NOT SO COMPLICATED
I WOULD GLADLY VOLUNTEER

IF IT WERE JUST MONEY 💰 TOTALS
LIKE I SCORE MY CONTESTS

OK, a few questions. I am not questioning my score because I too came up with 86 points, but I still do not really understand the scoring system. I pretty much understand everything, but exactas for some reason and I think the confusion comes in with the ABCs and Xs. So here is my question. If you choose a horse in your first three that does not finish in the top three, is that an X? And if you have an exacta as Ruffian did in race 6 where she had the place horse in the second slot and the win horse in the third slot, would that be a BC and since her top pick did not finish in the top 3 would that then make it XBC? I know it wouldn't, as there is no XBC, but seems like it would make more sense, if there was.

Yes, I know, I'm just making it more difficult than it has to be. Sorry. I have always had a talent for complication. , but I'm glad I asked the question. Kind of helped me to think about it.

A. Yes.

Q.And if you have an exacta as Ruffian did in race 6 where she had the place horse in the second slot and the win horse in the third slot, would that be a BC

A. If she picked 1-2-3, #1 would be her A, #2 would be her B and #3 would be her C. If it came in 3-2-6, she would be scored on a CBX.

Q. since her top pick did not finish in the top 3 would that then make it XBC? I know it wouldn't, as there is no XBC, but seems like it would make more sense, if there was.

A. If she picked 1-2-3 and it came in 6-2-3, then her result would be XBC
Cal, I've tried to respond to your questions and make that which is not clear a little clearer. What is confusing is that a player can be awarded points for things that do not pay off as successful wagers - i.e. you haven't picked the winner but still get points for having picked two out out the three in the money finishers or even one out of three.

Don't know whether I've helped or made it more confusing. Hope it has helped.

Thanks Joly. Appreciate the explanation. I'll see if I can put that in practice after our next contest.

Cal, I'll keep it simple . . . the only way I know how and sometimes its so simple it gets complicated to me or I just screw it up.

There can be an XAB, XBA, XAC, XCA, XBC and a XCB all worth 5 points. All of these combinations when any horse you pick in the tooo three does not win but when one of your picks does win you can have a AXB, AXC, BXA, BXC CXA and a CXB each worth 5 points also. Plenilune could explin this much better I'm sure and I believe the basic Scoring Rules of the game are accurate as well. Somewhat oganized alphabet soup.

There's a highly advanced master spead sheet that takes care of all of this "magically", all advanced sreadsheets seem magic to me, that I did not develop. Plenilune sent to me to use while she recooperates but when I open it up my mind goes to mush, so I use a much simpler, manual input, spreadsheet of my own.

And reading what I just wrote doesn't sound very simple either.
