Default Times Square drop of the ball

Does anybody else think that instead of "2013", the message should say "Your taxes just went up" ?

You got what you wanted bro. NO RETREAT BABY NO SURRENDER. Instead of your message maybe the message should be "Hey Mega Rich, no problem I'll take the hit and pay higher taxes so yours won't go up as much"

Happy New Year Joey! Just to inform you that the New Year is 2013 and not 1986.

Talking

I'm glad this is personal rather than political.

Maybe we should have a Personal Thread where people can bash each other for no other reason than one's love of being right over the wrong?

After all we know who's right, right?

the good news is that begining jan 1st through the magic of perception what was once voting for a major tax increase suddenly becomes supporting a reduction in your taxes.

and with the benefit of not having to run for re-election as supporters of a tax increase, the new congress will resolve this shortly after jan 4th.

the only real story coming out of all this is that there was a chance for some of the spending reductions republicans wanted in the offers made two weeks ago. by rejecting those as "not enough" they'll wind up voting for a bill that has virtually none.

i don't think that's good for the country and wish we could start to deal with some of the structural problems while the solutions are manageble. but when republicans steadily overplay a poor hand (as they've done since november) it's almost impossible to see how that's going to happen.

what she said.

i read an article the other day about what falling over the cliff really means. it's more of a door threshold at your door then a cliff.
and i'd rather the 'temporary' cuts end for all, rather than be extended for all.
