Default BEYER ON ATR: O'Neill attacks 'mean-spirited, ill-informed'

Do not miss Andy Beyer and his spirited defense of Doug O'Neill on Thurs. ATR: "I've scrutinized his record & know what a cheating trainer looks like. Doug O'Neill is an honest trainer". Calls negative coverage 'mean-spirited, ill-informed'. Much, much more and will detail his thoughts in forthcoming column..

ALSO...

Noted Bloodstock Advisor Tony Cobitz on the Belmont runners, American Breeding, Identifying physical characteristics, more..

Mike Welsch with latest gallops, final thoughts..

Pat Reynolds, Tony Black, Rich Eng, Callers and a bugle blast from Sammy!

Here is his column from this afternoon:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/2012-b...KLV_story.html

While his positive comments towards O'Neill help balance the negativity out of the NY Times, it runs counter to the facts. O'Neill has multiple positive TCO2 tests from multiple jurisdictions as well as positives for therapeutic medications and medications you aren't supposed to give horses. I don't know how you can scrutinize his record and call him an honest trainer.

I know how they can call him an honest trainer. If he's a cheater, then, there's nothing in it for them. There is usually a self-serving component involved when one wants to ignore cheating. There is simply not enough (hardly any, actually) objectivity in this sport. Almost all the people involved in policing it (and reporting on it) have multiple conflicts of interest involved.

Like how in California you can be a trainer AND an assistant trainer. It's awesome.

Hey Vick,Love the emotional calls at Betfair@ hollywoodpark
Hope to see you in the press box or around the track @ Del Mar
The reason "Coach and "Lord" and all the other East coast Eire canal snobs are just jealous that after a long drought out west we seem to have a genuine caring man who along with a lot of others in this industry try to due there best ,are genuinely caring about their horses and have love for the game, don't take themselves to seriously.
These same forum Nazi either make up there own press clippings or read each others without doing any real research besides scanning some old past performances or making assumptions on somebody good name.

You're curious about business ethics? Shocking.

Yeah...I guess it's not that big of a deal. Now that I think about it I would be totally o.k. with Nick Saban being an assistant for Auburn and when he clocks out coaches the Tide.

How many times this guy claim a horse dropped in for a tag (1st time) by the fellow trainer Richard Mandella? The guy can't wait to cheat with a horse from a clean trainer.
