OBS SOARS: $825k Macho Uno, $675k Hard Spun colts spike sale
Corinthian Filly Brings $320,000 at OBS Spring
From TDN: Trainer Mark Casse saw off a challenge from bloodstock agent Gary Young to purchase hip 916, a bay filly from the first crop of GISW Corinthian (Pulpit), for $320,000 during Wednesday's third session of the OBS Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training. She becomes the highest-priced juvenile at the sale thus far. Owned by her breeder John McLane and Irv Wiemer, the filly was bought back for $47,000 at last year's Keeneland September Sale. Sent to Niall Brennan's operation, she breezed a strong quarter in :21 1/5. From TDN: Macho Uno Colt Brings $825k at OBSAPR A colt by Macho Uno created some fireworks on the final day of the OBS April Sale, bringing $825,000 from Hill 'n' Dale Bloodstock on behalf of Frank Fletcher Racing Operations. Consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent V, the gray son of La Defense (Wild Again) was acquired by Tristan de Meric for $22,000 as an OBSJAN yearling. The Florida-bred is a half-brother to Quelle Surprise (Slew Gin Fizz), SW, $141,706. Fletcher Lands Another at OBS; Hard Spun Colt for $675k
From TDN: Not long after securing a colt by Macho Uno--La Defense for $825,000, Frank Fletcher Racing Operations signed for a colt from the first crop of Hard Spun out of Light From Above (A.P. Indy) for $675,000. Hartley/DeRenzo Thoroughbreds LLC consigned the colt, whom they acquired for just $30,000 at Keeneland September.
