![]() Something I haven't heard brought up yet. Why didn't the City of Tucson have at least one, if not two, police officers on duty at this public gathering? I've heard there were at least 100 people there if not 200. In N.Y. there would have been a police presence there. Maybe that would have made a difference. Maybe people should be looking at the obvious. If a vibrant public debate is a factor at all, and I don't think that it is, why wasn't there some cops hanging out? The infamous Sheriff was quoted as saying he could see this coming so why didn't he have some Deputies on the scene?

![]() That was brought up in the AZ Congresswoman in critical condition after shooting topic (page 7) but immediately argued down by a Clarence apologist.
Arizona is a state with a boiling political cauldron. Law enforcement personnel should be present at any political gathering. And because they weren't might just explain a lot of people buying guns to protect themselves because law enforcement is dropping the ball. Thought I'd help you out sorehoof in getting your topic into another rousing discussion.

![]() Sheriff Clarence Dupnik took up the gauntlet immediately following the shooting and represented himself and his department as being in charge of law enforcement. However, he did a good bit of politcing, as well.
Interesting Op Ed today in the NYT's - giving equal time to pro and con opinion about Clarence. http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com...f-in-politics/

![]() Well, I was thinking it and I didn't hear anyone making a big deal about it but everything is local. I think it is a big deal. Safety begins at home I guess.
