Default Tuesdays are depressing

Anything more depressing than a Tuesday with only 1 week left of summer...
Walking home in the pouring rain and the first voice you hear on the TV is the track announcer from dreary old Philadelphia Park? This guy would be better suited calling a funeral than a horse race.

I have to admit that I went to the kitchen to get lunch and put on the tv, it was on the OTB channel from when i was watching it last night and the first thing I heard was the delaware park guy. rain coming down outside, its dark out, and then you hear that and say My God summer is almost over.
It was a short and rotten summer this year, I want a do over.

I can't wait until the first Saturday in November. The stage has been set and i'm ready to see some history unfold before my eyes.

Oct 7th at Belmont is every bit as good as BC Day.

I hate this week every year, the only good thing about Labor Day weekend is there is now racing at Saratoga.

Today is so slow at work, I could easily sneak out of here and catch some races but it has to be freaking Tuesday. Whats worse is it looks like Translyvania outside.

I need a pick me up.

You can say that again. How bad is this day? Transylvania has to be nicer than this. I've only tied one on one time the the whole meet. But I have to tell you, that Mich ultra 12 pack I bought a week ago still has 11 left. And this day is so depressing that I've contemplated an assault on the 11 remaining soldiers.

Default Summer does feel over

Funny, i have been thinking the same thing the past few days.
It is like a weird dream with myself living in No Cal and having visited Saratoga earlier in the month during the Whitney weekend. Seems like it was ages ago not weeks and that Summer is over. My kids are back in school already (didn't school start after Labor Day when we went?) and yes, there is still racing at Saratoga and still very good quality racing but it is just a few days from ending.

Not living close to Saratoga, i do not get the same effect and feelings as those of you who do live close. That said, unfortunately there are no do overs but just the wait and slow buildup in anticipation to next year.

Thanks to all of you (Steve, Mike, Hooves, etc.) who made my trip to Saratoga special this year. ALthough in my heart it is already over, i can already think about next year when i bring my family for a whole week.

Its great living here but as Oracle will probably attest to, with the huge highs come the very bad lows. Tuesdays that are nice out I can sort of deal with. Having a 1 day break from racing isnt a bad thing but when the 1 day is dark & rainy, it makes it hard to get up.

We have dreadfully long winters that we have to endure only to get to summer, which is too short!

I had one beer yesterday (during the first race) and it tasted like heaven. I may go home and eat an entire pizza and watch Vanilla Sky.
