Default Zenyatta Classic: for or against?

No betting just a general are you rooting for Zenyatta to win or lose on BC day. The answer has nothing to do with anything other than ones own personal gratification given what has happened with her in racing the past few years.

I've got to see her run in the Classic. Conquering the classic on dirt will establish her as the best horse I've ever seen. No question! IMO she will never climb past the Synthetic best without a classic run on dirt. Even a loss would be better for me than a win in the Distaff to retire undefeated.

I want her to win. Her fans, for the most part, are morons. If the game can get those morons to start betting then it would be outstanding for the rest of us.

I guess it is in the best interest of the game, but if I see another top 5 all time list with her alongside Citation I'm going to puke. I actually saw a couple lists with Peppers Pride in there under the rationale "19 for 19 speaks for itself".

I think she is a great race mare who has been spotted in soft spots on a new surface for at least the last 2 years, but I just don't believe she is in that rare air. If she wins, it is a big story and validates a lot of what her fans are saying, but I still don't think she has proven herself through a tough campaign. Circling one or two dates on the calendar isn't the easiest thing to do, but it's a low risk strategy. On the other hand, if she loses, the doubters will say it proves she found soft spots on synth and dismiss a compelling career to a perfect alignment of circumstances that included two BC's in California and a handful of races with marginal competition.

I would like to see her win. The sport could use some more positive press right now.

i don't root for or against horses for the most part. some of the connections on the other hand....i always pull for a phipps or claiborne horse. i never root for an ieah. other than that? i just want to see good racing.

as for who draws fans- judging by the funny cide story, i'd think most fans are drawn more to horses who make it big that are owned by small time folks. after all, most of us can connect with people like us, whereas none of us can find similarities to sheikh mohammed or many of the other deep-pocketed owners.
