Sid versus Goldikova. Could be the best race of the day.

If the turf is firm, he could present some real issues for Goldikova...

Not to burst your bubble, but Sidneys Candy is likely not even the best Candy Ride turfer in that barn. He freaked today, congrats. He beat nothing and freaked, Im happy for him.
As far as beating Goldikova, really? If Courageous Cat comes back ok, and thats a huge IF, he is easily better then Sidneys Candy.
Lets also not forget Get Stormy at 8f. I would take him any day of the week over Sidneys Candy...

Yeah, the turf is often like it is at Dmr right now in November at CD. God forbid he get looked in the eye by a real speed horse on turf like Get Stormy or someone even better.

It was a very good performance today but to come on here and say he could present a challenge to Goldikova is lunacy.

Surely you jest. The way the 'real speed horse on turf', Get Stormy, got his lunch eaten on a 'real' turf course up at WO? Did Stormy get tired on that long stretch? ha ha ha

GS doesn't sniff this horse's ass. Unless Josephine is up, of course.

It's nice to watch a race where the jocks are gapped as a result of fast fractions; rather than taking back on their own, the way they do at SAR.

Macias, who is a quite good turf sprinter, went with Sid for 6f (in sub 1:09 - I forget the exact time and the chart isn't up yet) and dropped out to finish essentially eased. Meanwhile Sid kept on going to set a new track record for 1 1/16 of 1:39 and some. And the track wasn't especially fast today - good allowance fillies ran a mile in 1:35.27, which is about right for the level.

True, this was just a bunch of promising 3yos - Kid Edward, in particular, should be a good one in longer races - but it was the way he won that has some of us dazed and amazed.

One can only wonder if JOSEPHINE would've lost with him today.
