Default New Illinois Board rule limits ADW access for IL players

Whats up with this?!

Due to a new Illinois Racing Board Rule that went into effect on July 12 which caps fees that tracks located outside of Illinois may charge for Illinois ADW wagers, the following tracks will not be available for wagering by Illinois ADW customers.

Belmont, Calder, Del Mar, Evangeline Downs, Hollywood, Laurel, Lone Star, Los Alamitos, Louisiana Downs, Ohio 7&7, Presque Isle Downs, River Downs, Sacramento, Sam Houston, Santa Rosa and Saratoga. (List includes tracks running through July - subject to change)

This is required to comply with Illinois Racing Board Rule 325.60 (Organization Licensee Simulcast Signals and Commission Fees). If you would like to voice a complaint regarding the new rule which prevents you from accessing all of the tracks you desire, please contact the Illinois Racing Board at IRB.Info@illinois.gov or (312) 814.2600.

That sucks. And I thought our signal dispute was bad in the Mid-Atlantic states. A law like that is far worse since it will not be easily changed.

I just got off the phone with the IRB. They said "oh my are we hearing about this today. We've been getting calls all morning".

they set the cap at 5%, knowing that there would be an issue, and now today they are surprised to hear such anger?

They said the Illinois horsemen didn't want the money going out of state to the ones that charge more than 5%.

I think I'm going on strike, and won't place any bets until this is settled. I'm so sick of getting jacked around. This is the only industry I can think of where the customer is continuously treated like a punching bag.

The Illinois Racing Board approved the cap in January as a way to protect the amount of revenue from account wagering that flows to Illinois horsemen and racetracks. Although many racetracks and horsemen objected to the cap, the rule went into effect after a 45-day comment period in which many racing industry officials said they would support the cap only if it were raised above the current market rate for premium signals.
