He is my favorite player of all time. I went to spring training when I was 14-15 years old and I got to meet him, this big Samoan that I was with put me on his shoulders and Griffey goes "Toss me the ball", I tossed it to him, he signed it and he flipped it back. Still have it to this day on my dresser.

I wish all players handled themselves like he did.

hahahahah cool story, yeah KGjr was good i remember his lefty swing an the way he stare at the ball., just knocking them out the park...

i have his baseball card from 1988 opps both KGsenior & KGjr

Have never heard a whiff about him cheating. None. And other than putting on weight with age his hat size is the same. And unlike Bonds hitting 70 home runs at age 40ish, this guy went right down the tubes with age....like us all.

Exactly, like people who claim Jeter was clean when he obviously juiced in 99 when his slugging % jumped 71 points over any other point in his career. We might as well just all face the reality that it was the culture of the game at that time and to keep up with the cheaters even the good guys had to cheat.

I wouldn't bet on it. He had some major breakdowns along the way later in his career that were suspiciously similar to other juicers. No one will know for sure but there have been too many instances of blind faith being put behind other 'good guys' only to learn later than they had help along the way.

Sure he signed the ball. He thought that your 3 friends were going to hit him with a chair and kick the s.hit out of him.

It hasnt been a joy for a few years now. It has been painful. I can't knock anyone for making a couple of million dollars to play baseball but he has been a shell of himself for several years now. But the funny thing is that the guy who is a first ballot HoF'er with 635 HR's, 10 gold gloves, 11 silver sluggers, a 13 time all star amongst other plaudits may very well be more remembered as a "what if" guy, as in what if he had stayed healthy...than for his actual accomplishments. In his prime he was a monster.
