![]() Now that many of the biggest 2YO races are done for the year, save the J. Paul Reddam Futurity at HOL, does anyone have any 2YOs they like that are beneath the radar right now? I have a few.
Drosselmeyer- I made fun of this horse when he debuted at Saratoga because he had dirt written all over him but was entered for turf. After two decent turf races he tried the Polytrack at Keeneland and ran an improved race. Then making his dirt debut as a MTO he beat up on a soft field at a mile at CD but looked good pulling away from the field. He earned a BSF of 87and his pedigree makes him appealing. He's by Distorted Humor out of the solid mare Golden Ballet, who won the Santa Anita Oaks as a 3YO over eventual Ky Oaks winner Flute. He's currently 200-1 at Wynn. Take Turns- He broke his maiden at first asking against a pretty decent field at FG. Later on the card when he debuted (11/22) 2YO N1X La breds went better than a half second slower while going the opening half-mile quicker. He received an 88 BSF and his trainer, Morris Nicks, seemed to indicate afterwards he thinks he has Derby-type potential. He's by Seeking the Gold out of the Seattle Slew mare Alternate. Wow Wow Wow- Making his first start on dirt around two turns, this guy set a snappy pace and stayed on willingly. He's with DWL, which means the Derby is obviously on his radar and he probably will appreciate the added ground. These are just a couple of horses I had in mind. I still like Discreetly Mine a bit as the Champagne results were quite mixed with Homeboykris getting pummeled and Super Saver looking like a serious horse. Anyone else? NT |

I like 2.... One of them is Wow Wow Wow, I bet him heavy at Fairgrounds on Saturday and he was rank, and ran fast the entire way and just kept going. The other is the Giants Causeway who Buddys Saint beat First time out then was DQ'd. I think its Global Force.... |

![]() I still like Aspire. You can toss his race on the junk and before that he ran very well in 2 losing efforts, but was coming at the end of both, and should fluorish with added ground.
Discreetly Mine I also like, but think he will be a better miler/closing sprinter. |

![]() Take a look at Clark Hanna's MAXIMUS RULER who broke his MDN in an ALW Saturday at CD... Could be anything.

And of course he was the best-looking winner on dirt all day.

![]() The best site I've found for discovering emerging 2yos is the Twitter page www.twitter.com/derbycontenders. I think someone at Churchill Downs must be doing it because it is loaded with info on 2yos running all over the country. I've gotten some alerts about good betting races from this, too, which can be quite helpful if you play them right.

Very exciting runner and he looks like going long will be no problem. Thanks for the heads up on that one Steve. |

![]() Maximus Ruler is a tough one to figure. His dam has produced a whole lot of nothings, and the one decent runner she did produce was a turf sprinter. Her pedigree, however, seems to point more to dirt routing.
Roman Ruler is also an unknown quantity, so like Steve said, Maximus Ruler could be pretty much anything at this point. I did think his race on Saturday was pretty impressive. |

![]() I thought that Walking the Beach, a pricey Medaglia D'Oro who won his debut for Calhoun in the Thanksgiving Day finale at Churchill, looks like a very interesting prospect.

Anyone know much about the Zito Runner "Our Dark Knight"? I think he's a Medaglia D'Oro. Finished 2nd in the slop at Toga to one of Bafferts runners...I think it was Bulldogger. Could be interesting. Think he's training at Palm Meadows and eyeing Gulfstream. |

![]() A couple of my favorites are on the sidelines right now but they're back in training and should be ready to run by January. One is a Sadler horse named Sidney's Candy. The other is a Baffert horse named Bulldogger.
Sadler has one named Samardo who ran a very impressive 3rd in his lone start at Del Mar. He was absolutely flying at the end. He's not showing any works right now. I don't know what his injury was or what his status is right now. |

also saw that horse break his maiden on sat. thought the field was gonna get to him but he just kept on going. Gotta take into account the DWL factor, he's probably gonna campaign the horse for 2-3 more races........before years end. ![]() Sidenote, did anyone catch the kinda stock DWL had for the 2 YO card at churchill on saturday? i believe his main owners Westbrook or West something had a ton of horses in saturday, the majority, if not all them were 6 digit purchases, 2 YO's coming into saturdays card with 9 lifetime starts, he's a HOF and i'm just some guy off the street but i seriously question his training tactics over the last 5-10 years, and why people are still giving horses to him. Is Van Meter still sending him stock? -bt- |

![]() I thought the Hollendorfer filly She's Funomenal was spectacular in winning her debut at HP. I doubt this one will stay around that long, but if she does, she's likely going to be among the top fillies next year.
PG's Giants Causeway cost 1.2 mil and hasn't worked out in over a month. |
