Motion Video Endoscope

Today I worked a filly who we assumed had a breathing problem with an endoscope in her throat and a backpack on my back containing the GPS system and motor for the scope. The scope was attatched to a clip on my side and the tube ran up her neck , over her head into her throat. They turned it on and had a live video of her throat while I was working her , this is the coolest thing since sliced bread as far as diagnostic tools for horses.

So what conclusion did you come to after working her and does the video record the results?

The conclusion ... that a horse can't run with a hose up their nose.

They can and she did , went 3/8ths in about 37 and change.

The video is recorded and is also viewed live , the conclusion is that the filly doesnt have anything obstructing her airway. The noise that she makes might be coming from a false or what they call a third nostril so we might try and work her again with the scope in her sinus cavity or a little lower to see if that is the problem.

i read about that in bloodhorse a few weeks back-cool idea.

Its very cool , I told the doctor who helped create it that the backpack that the rider wears needs to be smaller and lighter because even though it only weighs 6 or 7 lbs it does make your back tired. The pack sits at right about your center of gravity so if a horse spooked I could see it throwing you off balance and making you fall off.
