very sad. Pittsburgh Pirates became my team in 1971. led by Dock and Roberto. those Bucs started "The Lumber Company".
i had forgotten Dock had given the HR up to reggie in the all-star game. reggie hit the ball onto the roof of old tiger stadium. if the ball hadn't hit the light tower it would have gone out of the stadium completely!.

not to hijack this sentiment, but I read where Dave Smith(Astros) died at 53
yrs. Excellent player and a good human being by all accounts. RIP Doc and Dave
