Default Azeri to sell at Keeneland Jan Sale

http://auctions.bloodhorse.com/article/48285.htm

In foal to Ghostzapper. I'm a little confused. I mean I get there's a point where it becomes particularly profitable to sell a mare (e.g. she's just had a huge winner) or you're convinced it's all downhill from here cuz she's hard to get in foal, something along those lines. I mean I can use my business head and understand why valuable mares sell without getting emotional. It's just, I don't understand why you'd sell her so soon. I mean this isn't just some mare and supposedly Paulson liked how Vallenzeri turned out. I thought this was some beloved family member he just had to hold onto. I guess there's a limit to the love? It just took me by surprise is all.

Who are we gonna guess takes her? And what are we talking about in terms of price?

he didn't want to sell vallenzeri, so it makes sense to sell her. you gotta do what you gotta do.

I think breeders might be afraid to buy Azeri because she didn't race until late in her 3yo season and I learned that it means she is way more likely to break down and maybe she will pass along her likelyness of breaking down to future offspring.

or maybe she was always sound but just took a really long time to figure out how to run since its complicated for some horses and breeders dont like breeding slow learning dummies.

that could be Zenyatta's downfall. she sold dirt cheap as a baby even though shes a Street Cry half sister to the awesome mare Balance because buyers must have known that Zenyatta was very likely to break down because she didn't race until her 3yo season and buyers dont want to buy horses who dont race at 2 and are more likely to break down.

either that or they didnt want to spend any more for Zenyatta because they knew she was a slow learning dummy who would take forever to figure out how to run. it is all making sense to me all of a sudden.

Old school. Well executed.

I'd say you're a Riot...but I'm sure that's not what you want.

I'll dig deeper...

The shiek is more afraid oil goes to 25 a barrel then some projection of what an Arezi foal may or may not be.. NO BREEDERS are interested in her because her price.. Nobody could justify making a profit on a 18 million dollar mare.
