You and I Forever

Anyone know why You and I Forever is not in the Travers? All the reports were that he would be entered.

Bill Mott came up with some odd excuse (see DRF) - that he and the owner weren't sure if the colt would handle 1 1/4 because his dam (You) did not relish longer distances. LOL This is a joke -I guess Mott forgot that the colt also has a sire who's offspring greatly prefer two turns. Instead, he's pointing You and I Forever to the PA Derby......sheesh. I'm extremely annoyed at Bill Mott to say the least. What an imbecilic decision.

The Pa Derby promises to be a much softer spot to run for $1M especially for a horse light on experience. I think if Bill Mott really thought he could win the Travers with You & I Forever he would've run him.

I just think it's the wrong move. The Travers is the Travers and the PA Derby is not. How does Mott know that his colt can't get the 1 1/4? He runs Alazao, a mediocrity, in the Haskell against Big Brown; he throws Mushka, off of one race in many months, against the best 3 year old fillies in the Alabama, but he won't try his promising colt in a wide open Travers? Foolish decision and inconsistent with his other recent decisions. I know he couldn't possibly think that Alaazo or Mushka had much chance.........

Maybe he just has lost his confidence with the Saratoga meet. What did he win, something like 27 races last year? And this year hes won 2? Kind of like a HR hitter hitting 60 one year and coming back with only 25 the next, with the same at bats. Makes you wonder.

You can't possibly believe it was his call to run Mushka in that race.

Are Coal Play and Smooth Air pointing to the Penn Derby? If so, it could wind up a tougher race than the Travers as you could make the argument going in that those two are better than anyone in the field even if I don't think they'd like 10 furlongs (like most of the Travers field).

I don't think so with Coal Play - last I heard, the Jerome was a likely spot. It appears that Nick Zito was waiting to see how he was training before deciding where to point him next. I haven't heard anything about CP, though, in the last week or so.

Mambo in Seattle and Harlem Rocker are much better horses than Coal Play and Smooth Air. The both have the potential to be extremely talented horses. The other two are really just grade 2 horses that are beating nothing.
