![]() Anything he adds to his resume increases his value I would think. Even if he loses a couple, as long as he wins the BC Classic again in addition to his DWC win...I think that would be incredible for his fee.

Curlin should throw 7f to 12f horses, for all surfaces. Being by Smart Strike, he should really take to the lawn if he ever got the opportunity. I don't want to compare him to More than Ready because they are obviously way different, but More then Ready's offspring do real well on the lawn, yet he never touched a foot on it, to my memory... |

![]() I'm probably in the minority on this, but to me it seems premature to say that Curlin is going to be a good stallion because he's by Smart Strike. Tenpins will have two year olds racing this year, and I'm curious to see how they do before annointing Smart Strike a sire of sires.

A gritty little horse or a world champion, best horse in the world, and likely soon to be winningest horse of all time. Maybe I don't understand breeding, but regardless of their lineage, isn't using one to judge the other's potential a little folly? |

The padding of the resume will help sure and the reputation in the pantheon is certainly gravy but that hasn't kept a lot of horses from checking out early. As I said, they figure 20% of Curlin is out there to be had easier while he's racing and that 20% is worth enough $$$ they'll try to be patient so they can get it. I mean think about it, as long as he's earning racing money, even if the folks suing get a piece of the purse, it's nothing to 20% of his breeding value and they'll probably sell for less than a big wig would pay for it just to get the payout. I hope those two lawyers give up the ghost and end the headache for everybody on this horse and that case. |

If I was Jess Jackson I would map out a campaign that included a G1 turf race, like the Arlington million. Then win the the BCC on the synthetic, that would make him a G1 winner on all 3 types of surfaces. Most importantly, he would be the only stallion in the world, to my knowledge, to accomplish that feat. That would be a hell of a marketing tool. |
