Anyone else feel nostalgic for that great running of the '02 WEBN Frog - which featured a battle between future millionaires Request For Parole and Perfect Drift?

Probably not.

There should be a law against posting the entires of a $50K stake race run over a synthetic.... valuable bandwith is being wasted.

I ask you sir, is this not the greatest prep for the Battaglia Memorial Stakes?

I keep waiting for a jockey's decapitation due to the kickback at TP. It's ridiculous.

My friends and I joke about that race all the time. I said it's "The Greatest 50k Stakes Ever Run". Not sure if that's true or not, but three future graded stakes winners came out of it and each of the three ran in seperate Breeder's Cup races as well. Perfect Drift in the Classic, Request For Parole in the Turf and Private Horde in the Sprint.

I'm not as enamored witht the winner of that race as some, but Your Round has some ability and should be tough.
Have been waiting awhile for Your Round to come back. I thought the allowance race at CD was a key race moving forward for these young horses. I bet Mach Again heavy and paid the price for it. I'm not convinced though that there wasn't deep quality and Your Round was extremely wide around the turn and still beat Silver Edition and Jedi Code while running a close third to Monba. Will bet him heavy in P4's and P3's.

Purses have changed in the last half-century. Used to be prep races like the San Antonio and Donn were $50K races and attracted top horses (Ack Ack, Gun Bow, Pretense, etc., in the first case, Forego, Foolish Pleasure, Gun Bow, etc.. in the second), getting ready for the keynote races of the meet, the $100K Big 'Cap and GP H. When I started watching racing, $25K was the standard for the average stakes at a major track and there would be only a handful of $100-granders in a month across the entire nation. Your $50K stakes today would have been a $15-$20K stakes in those days.

Sadly, Frog was dropped from this race's moniker a year or two ago.

Still the WEBN Frog in the hearts and minds of those of us who have ever attended Riverfest or Oktoberfest... drank in the Courtyard at Arnold's... danced to the Warsaw Falcons at Corey's or Dollar Bills... had ice cream at Aglamesis...

Or if watched the race go as you're sitting on the runway at Cincy airport waiting for your plane to take off lol.
