There new setup to watch the sales is amazingly well run. Most of these horse related companies have no idea when it comes to the net and websitse but this has been awesome. It is clear on my screen, I can hear this hilarious guy say zero words in 15 minutes, but talked the whole time, and I can see the hip sheet. Pretty cool

Yes being able to see the catalog page along with the auction adds nicely to the flavor & educating the average Joe Horseman more.I hope everyone's enjoying the link.

The catalog page
http://apps.keeneland.com/sales/sep07/pdfs/179.pdf

There is more to it than the pedigree. The physicals, etc. More head sold this year than last and the median was not far down.

Sales was off almost $20 million from last years session from 163 horses sold for $87.9 million last year to 171 sold for $67.4 this year. There were no really high dollar horses with the exception of the Dynaformer. On first glance you may think that the overall market is way down but the reality is that Sheik Mo's totals alone were what propped up last years sale to record levels as he spent $29.6 million for 16 horses on last years 1st day versus $13.9 for 13 this year. That $16 million difference is 80% of the drop from last year.

The sales have been off across the board all year long, and were expected to bere here as well. Whether it be a 10% "correction" or a 20% "slide", to whatever extent -- even if it's off big-time, I think you'll see a lot more in the way of reality.

First, from what I gather, there were no $10m horses in this sale. There are some nice horses, but I think people have gotten spoiled. The top will be much lighter, the high-end will be lighter as well. As far as the middle market, I think that will also depend on the buy-backs, RNA's, etc. and what the seller's mindset is.

This is a good thing, although the commercials breeders will say it's blasphemy, LOL.

Yes- a Storm Cat that Maktoum paid $3,000,000 for. Still unnamed, as per the DRF.

There are several I really like. I loved Hip 147/Pleasantly Perfect who went for $240k to Live Oak Plantation. Damn you PowerBall Gods, that could have been me... Also Hip 2608/Pleasantly Perfect who is a 1/2 to Wait a While. This is her 2nd foal. Hips 915, 1087,2000 (half to Boboman),1541(Love him).....ok, ok, I love all the Pleasantly Perfects ok, I admit it.hehe How sick am I, I already have all of his yearlings that are named on my stable alert??? Hi, my name is Elise and I am a Pleasantly Perfect stalker!!
