Nakatani-Stevens Split

Well, that was short lived -- Craig O'Bryan has replaced Gary Stevens as Corey Nakatani's agent. Nakatani wasn't having a stellar Hollywood Park meet. He was something like 3 for 20-something since coming back from KY. Some thought this partnership was doomed from the start, others thought it would last and blossom. I thought Stevens could add some value, but he doesn't really have any experience as an agent.

O'Bryan also handles Jon Court and will continue to do so. Also, Clinton Potts, who was with O'Bryan, just gave his book to Nick Cosato. Cosato also represents Michael Baze.

Nakatani just can't stick with an agent for very long anymore. Stevens had too many things going on to be a good agent.

Stevens is a lousy agent. He stinks. He should be good.....but he just isn't.
It kind of reminds me of how Rock Hard Ten was as a racehorse.

I have to agree with you there about conflicting commitments. While CNak was making his return to HOL, Stevens was at the Preakness for NBC, and the following day he was guest caller at the High Hope Steeple Chase in KY.

I'm not an expert on this, but it seems to me that a jock agents' primary occupation needs to be spotting live mounts, hustling business and schmoozing trainers/owners. It couldn't have been easy to juggle TV obligations and personal appearances with handling CNak's book.

Stevens parted ways with Little Red Feather after 10 months as a managing partner, now he's parting ways with CNak after a little less than two months. I think Stevens has something to give to the game beyond NBC and TVG -- hope he finds his niche.
