Default The numbers inside of a timed work

Street Sense worked 5 furlongs in 1:04 yesterday. At first glance you may say HMMMM....is this horse tired from his Tampa race and his 58 second work. Or maybe the horse is a little sick or could it be something else. Well, the final time of a work can be misleading at times. Street Sense ran the final 3/8ths of a mile in 36 seconds which is pretty darn quick. The first quarter mile was in 28 seconds which is SLOW. Obviously, Nafzgar was wanting Street Sense to start out real slow and then show some speed at the end of the work. If Nafzgar isnt concerned about the slow final time coupled with the quick last 3/8ths then neither should the horse player.

On a side note: the front bandages on SS are there because the horse was brushing his front ankles against each other. He wore them in the Juve and in his Tampa race.
