"Caleb’s Posse, Cool Blue Red Hot, Dominus, Flashpoint, Justin Phillip, Poseidon’s Warrior, Runflatout and Uncle Mo. Possible for the race are Bold Warrior, J J’s Lucky Train, and Wine Police."

As usual, the King's Bishop looks like a stronger race than the Travers.

I feel like the Travers is about whether or not you think Stay Thirsty's last race was a true coming-out party (in addition to his improved form in the Belmont).

What does everyone think of Flashpoint drawing the #1 hole?

Not sure what to make of it yet since Caleb's Posse will drop back and Flashpoint shows speed anyway

Ballston--Going with Tapitsfly hopefully he wont be messed with on the lead too much. or will rate kindly and kick strongly in the stretch

Victory Ride--really dont have an opinion one way or other, i wont be playing the race, this one where I will go with the all button in pk3s and 4s

Ballerina--Hour Glass my pick, Hilda could be going the wrong way

Kings Bishop--Dominus hopefully will bounce back from the loss but im not kidding myself he will need his all time best race to win but my top pick, Uncle Mo is training like a monster and Flashpoint is no joke.

Travers--Love coil and raison d'etat, I will use both in pk3s and pk4s, but in win bets Raison will be the choice, and he will be on top of tris and supers i play

I hope I'm not falliing into the wise guy horse with Raison d'Etat. I see a well bred horse with a lot of upside potential. The key thing is this field is filled with mediocre horses. Bill Mott usually enters horses in stakes races where he thinks he has a shot. Raison d' Etat will have to raise his game to win this but why not? Shackleford might not last the distance, Ruler on Ice probably got lucky in the Belmont, Stay Thirsty ran well in the Jim Dandy but who did he beat? Coil is coming off an injury. I'm going to take a chance on Raison d'Etat and hope for the best.

Default Hilda not doing good

Sustained a non-displaced condylar fracture of her right front leg that will require surgery.

Default Dale Romans on Travers Day

Except for Tapitsfly, who ran a game race, it sure was a tough day for Dale Romans. How did Sassy's Image and Shackleford come out of their races?

I bet all these Kentucky trainers can't wait to get return for some home cookin.

I bet all these Kentucky trainers can't wait to get return for some home cookin.
From NYRA Communications Daily Notes:

Off a day of high expectations that turned into disappointments, trainer Dale Romans was back at work Sunday morning, putting in entries for later race days.

For Romans’ star 3-year-old Shackleford, there was little to do other than get him ready to head back to Kentucky following an eighth-place finish in the Grade 1, $1 million Travers. Sent off as the third choice, at just under 4-1, in the field of 10, the Preakness winner raced outside winner Stay Thirsty and Ruler On Ice into the backstretch, made the lead through a half-mile in 47.63 seconds and six furlongs in 1:11.91 but had no punch turning for home.

“He came out good; we’ll just go home and regroup,” said Romans, who will remain in Saratoga through the rest of the race meet. “We don’t have an explanation for it. He wasn’t quite on the bit. He’s still on track for the Breeders’ Cup.”

Compounding Romans’ woes was the poor performance of his ace sprinter Sassy Image, strong favorite to win the Grade 1 Ballerina for fillies and mares at seven furlongs. Looking for her third Grade 1 win of the year, Sassy Image hopped awkwardly from the gate at the start, lagged behind the field and bore out badly on the turn. She finished more than 26 lengths behind winner Hilda’s Passion.

Afterward, Romans discovered Sassy Image had torn a quarter on her left front. “That’s why she was getting out like she did,” he said. “She might have done it while she was coming out of the gate. She jumped pretty good.” Romans put a picture of the hoof on the Romans Racing Stable Facebook page.

I hope we see Uncly again. Considering the layoff, that was a bang-up race he ran on Saturday.
