![]() This horse is back on point. That was just a horrible ride by David Cohen. He is looking back going around the far turn when Latent Heat is still in front of him. The by doing that he blows the turn and never makes it tight on Latent Heat through the stretch. PTT is a much bigger horse and would of intimidated LH. LH did run a good race but with a better ride PTT gets the job done. Mabey I am just upset cause I had $500 on PTT nose. Any thoughts on the race????

his floating out at the top of the stretch did not help his chances in the race. The first 1/4 went a bit slower than I imagined it would. I thought a sub :22 was gonna be a given, so I was surprised to see :22.53. I think if Cohen would have sent PTT, he may have never looked back and led them all the way. |

![]() Cohen got second guessed for letting PTT explode out to a 3 length lead early in the Sunshine Mil Sprint (6f) and subsequently getting run down in the stretch by Smokey Stover. (He did well to save place) Today in watching the replay, it seems like he was shocked that him and Latent Heat were allowed to get loose on the lead with somewhat soft fractions.
He went a bit wide coming out of the turn, but before friday that 3-4 slot off the rail coming into the stretch has been a conveyer belt. Ask Gomez (oh wait we can't). I saw it in person and the replays....I think LH had him regardless. Cohen got into PTT something fierce late stretch....while Prado gave a few taps and just showed him a little leather towards at the end. |

He easily hooked LH midstretch and just flat out didn't go by him when it was time to run. Your hypothesis is that if he'd hard ridden the horse EARLIER the horse runs down LT. But he wasn't hard ridden at all and he still couldn't get by a horse that was being asked before they finished the turn. In other words he HUNGGGGGGGGGGGggg, Tough beat, nonetheless. |

![]() Just think of it this way, there is no turn to blow in Dubai. 6F straight course is a big help, and a great 2milllion $ purse. Good Luck PTT!

![]() Proud Tower Too is a fighter on the lead. He is not a runaway speed nor is he a stalker as Cohen allowed him to do today.
It was warm at SA and as seen by the earlier sprint races the place to be was on the lead and inside. So Cohen lets his main competition get inside of and ahead of him. He tried his best today, and was whipped hard by Cohen(It appears more out of frustration) than to get him going. |

If you have a large horse on the outside and a smaller horse on the fence the smaller horse gets intimidated and backs out of the hole no matter how hard the jock rides |

the Sunshine Millions was also PTT's 2nd race off a long layoff....he should have been much fitter for yesterday's race and been able to handle quicker splits early on. |

![]() I just watched this again and PTT could have easily had the lead if Cohen wanted it. As soon as he let Latent Heat go by, PTT pulled Cohen up to him as if to say, "I want the front, thats where I need to be and this guy isnt even going all that fast." Cohen tried to come along side Latent Heat and it may have cost him the race. That premature move along the far turn took enough of out PTT to force him to go wide at the top of the stretch. He was tired. When they straightened out he came again but the race was over, he was never getting by Latent Heat, who is a nice horse in his own right.

![]() Horses that are loosed reigned around the turn don't generally get prematurely tired.
In most cases, the later a horse moves against the pace setter, the higher the likelihood of winning the race. The horse pulled even with LT midstretch and PUNKED OUT; even while being hammered to the wire. To that point, he hadn't really been asked. If a jock puts your horse in a position to win, against an oponent that's done all the work, late in the race, what's there to beef about? There are excuses that matter and there are excuse that (some) horseplayers think matter. When it came time to get down and dirty, PTT didn't. P.S. If I need to count on my jock to PIN the competition on the rail for me to win the race, I really better look elsewhere for recreation. |

![]() i don't know why proud tower blew the turn but it probly cost him the race. not necessarily because of lost ground but because proud tower is a fierce fighter when he has a horse next to him. when he gets his nose in front, he's very difficult to pass. nevertheless, it was a big effort by both horses. i'm guessing a speed figure between 110-115.
