Default 12/16 Calder Grand Slam II Day

Light rain through the night, at least at my weather post 10 miles due north of Calder. Same expected today. Track has been sloppy/sealed for last two days and expect the same today. Guess is the early turf race will be off and turf condition -- if the two stakes even stay on -- will be yielding. Over the last two days, the main has played nearly pure speed in sprints and speed/inside for 2-turn races. A horse of note from yesterday is Samyaksam which won a 2 yo MCL at 7F after starting last. Calder puts up changes twice before the first race... once at 10:30 ET and again at 11:30. It looks like a slopfest, unfortunately. The link for program changes is below. Good luck and bring your fins and snorkel.

lol. Well, the early changes are up. They're O-T-T for the two stakes as well. Too bad. This is one of my very favorite days of racing here.

According to the changes they are all still a go in the La Prevoyante, but nothing is listed for a distance change. Is it still a mile and a half?

Best I can tell, they're OTT. They do run 1.5 miles on the dirt there, so I assume the race will stay at the listed distance but on the main. Then again, there WILL be a distance change for the 3rd race whih was going to go 7.5F on turf. This should go at a flat mile. But this wasn't shown on the site. Stay tuned for the 11:30 update.

1st Mcl 8f.

7, Aurora Ridge. Liked her before the ML chalk scratched.
7 win at 5-1+

2ND MSW 6.5F
Open race with several ships coming off layoffs. I'll take the Zito, 6, at 5-1+ and also use the 7, Cloud King in the Multi-races.

3RD ALW NW2 OFF TURF 8.0f
Race comes up ridiculously weak after scratches and surf changs. I don'tsee why 4, Dane K, can't win here and will play win at 5-1+. I'll also use the 10, Artax Collector and 3, Shanclif in the multi-races.

4TH OPT 25K/N2X MILE & 70
I like 7, Thunder Mab, today at a hopefully decent price. To win at 5-1+ and multi race single. Also Ex key 7/1,2,3.

5TH CLM 8K 7f
4, Dig For Dinner looks solid but I'll also use 3, Pinkmingo in the multi-races on the stretch.

more later.

good luck
