Gulfstream still has its conventional dirt main track. In addition to that, they also have a synthetic tapeta surface in between the main track and the turf. That is often used when races are taken off of the turf.

The tapeta has been used to take some of the pressure off of the turf course. Because most turf horses seem to handle the transition to tapeta better than to dirt, the decision to take a race off of the turf doesn't result in the customary large number of scratches. So far, the experience has been positive.

Funny you should ask that
When I noticed some races on dirt and some Allweather
I called the Gulf Stream racing office to inquire

She told me about the dirt track could get muddy
But the all weather doesn’t
So if a turf race has to come off
It goes on the old weather track
