Default ROI Results 11/27 @ Churchill

I had my doubts whether a tough 2 year old only racing card would yield many cashed tickets
but I was pleasantly surprised with the results. The afternoon Churchill card yielded 7 winning
tickets and 4 payoff slots. Zippy hit three winners but just missed profitability. Fourth place
goes to Cal who hit a 50 cent Super in the finale worth $85.30 and a little profit. Eclipse gets
third place with a $50 show bet on Red Run in the 8th. It was worth $155 for the $5.40 mutuel.
Plenilune takes up where she left last year and nails second place. Jane put $50 to win on
Chasing Time in the 6th and the $6.20 win price got her back $155. But the day belonged to
the Don. Guido that is. DG played a $24 exacta featuring Trademark and Red Run and it was
a good one worth $68.20 for each deuce and he had 12 of em. A $722 profit on the day gave
Don an easy win and a sweep of points and ROI. Nicely played Don. Following are the
unofficial results pending any miscues by the scorer. See you all next week wherever DG
ships us.

I made a correction above in Cal's score. I credited him with an extra $8 to account for scratches in his wagers.

Thanks RQ. I may need that $8 considering just about everybody here except the new guys beat me about $2000 last year. Early prognostications are indicating that Don Guido may be a force to be reckoned with this year and of course we know from past experience that Roamin and Ruffian are capable of suddenly ambushing us all with bombastic scores.

Cal, there's not crystal ball or Ouija bord in my bag, thus smaller return are my rule. The hit last week may be the biggest one I've ever had in many years. I'll take a small leap of faith based on my somewhat nubile approach to the ROI. I hit many races last year, which made me happy and reinforced that my simple, yet boring, exacta key approach works . . . if you pick the right race allowing me to hit the wagering board more times than the last 11-12 contest rolled together.

The points contest is typically my strength and like you and JB and others, success comes in spurts.Whoeever can put more spurts together typically takes the trophy. I'll say that Ruffian was very consistent last yeart and has honed her Points game . . . which she ued to an also ran most of the time. Keep an eye on me in the Points Contest but I'm really no threat in the often whacky ROI wagers. You might say I use a 9MM pistol versus some here that throw out hand grenades moreoften than not.

A new handicapping year begins to the keen attention of many of us, some times too much so. Like I used ot tell my youth baseball players years after year after year . . . "Don't worry about the scoreboard, just play ball like you know you can and focus on every pitch, the score will take care of itself".

^^^^^ Actually, I was impressed with your play and kudos on finding a way to play that works for you. That seemed like a tough race to me. I was watching the tote board and the bettors seemed confused with several horses taking favoritism, but finally landing on the one you picked as the winner. Congrats on the win.

If I had a tote board to watch it would only confuse my simple mind. I try not to listen to the analysts and so called experts as well.

I generally don't pay much attention to the analysts either, but that depends on how I am watching. If I watch Fox Sports when the New York races are on I listen and watch the whole show, but other venues I generally watch on Xpressbet and then I just watch the actual race only and don't watch the analysts. Analysts often get it right, but if there is anything I hate, it's to be talked out of a winner so I just go my own way, but of course nobody is right or wrong all the time so there are probably times that I should have listened to the analysts.,
