Default Coworkers With CC & TC Questions

Oy, this is an exciting day at work. One by one, coworkers are coming by asking me several questions about CC and the possibility of another TC. Here are the top 3 questions I'm being asked.

1. How long ago has it been since Secretariat won the last Triple Crown?

2. What's this about California Chrome's back story?

3. Will he race again if he wins the TC?

I'm sure I'm not the only one with inquiring coworkers. Feel free to list the questions you're being asked.

One of mine made the mistake of just mentioning it to me and off I went.. "Blah, blah,blah...Chrome this, Chrome that"... Unfortunately, She lost interest 1/2 way thru my story telling when her boss walked in

1) Well if he loses he can try again next year.

2) Why don't they breed him in between races to make more $?

Has been an interesting three weeks, but I don't mind cause the queries are always sincerely asked - what have found out is that the Disney Secretariat movie is everyone's all-time favorite the nasal strip issue is right up there also - the general public has no idea that horseracing has rules and regulations - I think there's an impression you just lead your horse out on any track and let em rip like NASCAR; there's a lot of confusion about parimutuel, many don't know you can bet exotics etc. Etc. Etc.

And the best one was if Secretariat's heart was so oversized why haven't they run an MRI on Chrome to check and see if he is also afflicted!

He actually does carry the gene for that, so never know.

I'm rotten lol - whenever there's a question that can't be answered always blame the CHRB or NYRA. While perhaps a covert ultrasound has already happened, CC can't have an MRI in New York because he's a Cal-bred and under CHRB rules to preserve racing integrity it could only be performed at UC Davis...

Was texting an ex-coworker, he has a small interest in racing.

On California Chrome winning the Triple Crown:

I have an acquaintance who has asked me about racing since the Derby. She really wanted to bet California Chrome and pestered me till I gave in... took her damned 60 dollars, played him across the board for her (yeah I know, I know but this was what she wanted. ).

So I'm reading my email this morning and there's one from her, can I drop off her money (?).

Called her and said ummm excuse me he was off the board.

She said she knew she'd only be getting her $60. back like I was the moron.

So this new wagering rule whereby we get back whatever we bet... when did that go into effect cause I missed the memo.

Unbelievable.

As I didn't have a reserved seat, I ended up standing near some older ladies who earnestly explained to me why racing horses at 2 was so harmful to them. The one lady said she knew this because she was involved in greyhound rescue for ten years and so knew all about the problems in thoroughbred breeding.

These people affect things like our government, schools. They drive on our roads. The level of stupid and/or willful ignorance out there is astonishing sometimes. It makes you very afraid to realize how much you have to battle.

On that note, here is the single greatest comment made about the race:

You'll have to click on the image once or twice to get the type large enough to read, but it's worth it.

Over 1400 retweets. I really hope some of those were 'can you believe this?'

The best was the first comment under the article:
