Default What's with these helmets?

I know nothing about football, I admit it. So I'm a bit curious about these helmets.
Like right now, the Bears are playing the Vikings on tv.
The helmets are confusing.
The Bears have a "C" on theirs. Shouldn't it be a "B"????
And the Vikings have pretty little white angel wings on theirs...Aren't the Angels a baseball team??? They should put a "V" on their helmets.
Are these helmets done this way because the NFL is "spelling challenged"?
Or is it because they want to confuse the fans and hope nobody catches on?
And while I'm at it, what's with the knee socks? What do the three stripes mean?
Man, I wish they'd show more of those smiling cheerry girls.

C for Chicago Bears.
The white wings are a bad version of the horns coming out of a Viking helmet.
YOu know, the big fat lady singing opera with the horns coming out of the coconut helmet...

Thanks Pgardn. you've clarified a lot.
I'm guessing I missed hearing the fat lady in the coconut helmet during the half-time show. I don't think I missed much though. Heck, after Janet Jackson did her Superbowl show, she didn't sing very well, but I can tell, you... if you've seen one, you've seen....oh nevermind.

Hey! Nice interception! Go purple and white guys!

Pgardn,
I hope you realize I was just kidding with this post.
My sense of humor (whatever it is) just needed a break from the rain here.
Thanks for your explanation.
Just don't take me too seriously.

Don't worry DTS, the helmets are as ugly as that game was. There was a lot of "d", but there were more penalties than grains of sand on a beach. Rex got the job done when asked (as a Vikes fan this sucks to say), but I knew if he were just able to stay healthy enough to play, he'd be effective. Brian Griese Who?

You think that's confusing....I'm watching some team called the BROWNS.
They have obnoxious ORANGE helmets. They are playing some team called uh....um...the Ravens but they USED to be the BROWNS at one time too...and they have have a "B" on their helmet....inside of a bird....I think the "B" stands for Baltimore....but I thought they were the Colts um...wait...don't they play in Indianapolis? They have a HORSE SHOE on their helmets....shouldn't they play in Kentucky or something?

RIP Pete Rozelle

Ya got that right!
I think there should be a Louisville team that has the horse shoes....
and a Vegas team with a babe on the sides of theirs. Nekkid.
What's with the curly cue stuff on that Aneheim team?
And how come the Saints are saints when they play so rough?
Not saintly, imho.
Orange helmets? That team needs to go to Northern Ireland.

alright now!!

about the helmets....and teams for that matter...

why do the steelers only have an emblem on one side?
why do the bengals have such ugly uniforms?
browns are named after their owner, buffalo is named after buffalo bill--which is kind of silly...
baltimore is the ravens (nevermore) which is from the story written by that dopehead edgar allen poe, who lived and died there.
in college...bama has their #'s on their helmets, easier for the players to keep up with what equipment is theirs i guess..they are called the crimson tide, but have an elephant as a mascot--makes PERFECT sense to me.
miami has a U--why?? they are far from the only university...they're the hurricanes, but their mascot is some ugly version of a pelican, which is the state bird of louisiana.
what's a hokie???

This isn't true. Bengals have a great uniform and an ugly helmet. Thus the term "Cincinnati Bengal" for a female with a great body but double bag material for a face.

I'm thinking of starting a "design your own helmets" thread.
Like, if you could pick out your own team...what helmets and what uniforms?
In a way, it's a bit like what I went through when I picked out my silks ( but that's a different thread).
As of now, I'd be looking for a Vegas team if they ever open up divisions.
I'd go with a "Marilyn Monroe" like her 1953 photos for the sides of the helmets. Color: magenta and flesh tones...
Uniforms: none. Jock straps and cups only. Hey! I'm just starting out in this ownership stuff. I'll do anything for ratings...and I hope the the draftees go along with it...if not, they can hit the road and maybe get on the Giant's team. They'll lose to less than the Seahawks.
Can anyone hook me up with "Hooters" as a sponsor?
I hope I can convince the "cheerers" to wear a similar uniform.

As far as my silks, I'll stick with what I've got. Royal blue, white chevron (V), three hoops on the sleeve. See them on Big Daddy Ray on Tues, Race 2, 1mi 1/16 at Finger Lakes...ml 7/2.
