Well known horse owner/developer. 5 year deal. Anxious to get him on ATR. He and partner Dennis Gomes were the guys that bought Resorts last year.

Even if he gets the horsemen to agree to 70 days like last year the money is not there to give away 800k on a daily basis, right?

Glad to read that he is a horse owner and a MP regular. I wish the guy all the luck in the world.

Still to be worked out is the length of the racing season, with legislation calling for 141 racing days but a new owner likely to seek a reduced meet to cut losses, possibly a 70-day meet similar to last year. Six of those days would be all grass races at the Meadowlands in the fall.

thats interesting.

From TDN: NJSEA To Negotiate With Morris Bailey On Monmouth Lease
Posted: 5:03 PM ET

The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority announced Monday that it has chosen the bid of New York real estate developer and casino owner Morris Bailey for the lease of Monmouth Park, and will begin working with Bailey to finalize an agreement. "The NJSEA is looking forward to vigorous and productive negotiations with Mr. Bailey, whose resources, track record and vision provide the most reasonable prospect for the private leasing of Monmouth Park by June 1, 2011," stated NJSEA Authority Chairman Mike Ferguson. In addition to his business interests, Bailey is a Thoroughbred owner and breeder.

Another article in the Star ledger today about the impending tussle over race dates between the Horsemen and Bailey (assuming he works out a deal with the state). Steve, how do you see this playing out?
