interesting card, you got 3 consecutive hcp or graded stakes early
and then a 7500clm before the gotham... guess they wanted to add some difficulty to the late pk4?

Ouch.

I haven't watched the paddock in a long time -- why did they feel a need to add Maggie Wolfendale? I thought I would only have to endure that torture at CNL.

Castro had a hard hold on Toby's corner in the early part of the race and then he wouldn't switch off till very late...

A trainer at CNL said he'd be drunk every minute of his life if he was married to a woman with that voice.

I'd consider multiple gunshots near both ears.

Wasn't a great race but considering that it was his first start since the BC, I thought it was a really nice race and should move him in the right direction. I'd think that whatever race they chose for him next out, he should be among the favorites, no matter who else is there.

Horrible race. No wonder why these horses never run. They ****ing suck. They could race 20 times a year and it wouldn't matter.

Yet another textbook example of why it's so easy for a speed horse to dominate a two-turn Derby prep race.

No one wanted to use there natural speed - although Nacho Saint and Stay Thirsty both charging the gate early and having slow starts contributed to that.

Some horse who broke his maiden at 24/1 odds at Penn National two back got to control a soft pace from the outside and easily ran the race of his life. Put any real horse in that position - and they'd have dominated this race.

Possibly, but then if that were the case, woudn't ST have been closer to the pace? I missed the beginning of the race, so I assumed ST was further back than usual because they wanted him to rate. In his debut, he wasn't on the lead - he stalked. That might be where he prefers to be.

Stay Thirsty broke a bit slow - the Nacho horse actually broke open the gate right before the start.

A better start by Stay Thirsty actually would have helped Toby's Corner a little bit - had Stay Thirsty broke well and was positioned forward from the start - Castro wouldn't have been quite as focused on getting into a wrestling match with TC.
