Many public handicappers unfairly get a bad knock. The biggest obstacle they face is that in order to meet newspaper deadlines or get the thing to the printers(like the Wizard), or say if you are trying to simultaneously: run a fraternity house for wayward youths and handicappers, run a BBQ stand from 7AM-7PM, try and jump on a website you run and check out how bad the chaos is, and do a radio show(like Steve) that you are up against it. Not only do you have to post selctions before track conditions are known, you are missing out on late scratches. Late scratches are crucial not only to know who exactly will be running, but because pace scenarios are altered as well. You may like a closer the night before based on a projected speed duel, but then have one of the speeds scratch leaving someone on a projected loose lead. |

![]() The Wizard is on OTB every day now. They put a little bubble in the right hand corner of the screen with his face in it. Thats kind of weird. He seems to gravitate towards chalk most of the time but I enjoy what he has to say.
He often changes his bets with a couple minutes to post after he gets a good look of the horses on the track warming up. |
