Default How to get some PACE into 2 turn races (at SAR and AQU inner)

This just came to me and it's brilliant.

Instead of having those Arabians wasting their time running for peanuts @ DEL, why not have them all shipped over and pay them a nominal fee to act as RABBITS in NYRA 2 turn races? They could easily cut 24, 48 fractions, which would put them nicely ahead of today's 3rd @ SAR, for example, that $70 NYBred 'stake'. Arabians, they're faster than POODLES and, now, going two turns, at least early, faster than any number of TBREDS.

1:14 for 6F

what a ****in' joke.

That pace wasn't all that slow to the 6f call.

The raw pace was 63 and the raw final time was 69.

For the pace to have been even - or avg - in relation to the final time - it would have been 1:13.72

Saratoga is a 1 1/8th mile track - which means that a good portion of the early pace is run around a turn. When you combine that fact with the fact that the track has consistantly been slower than par pretty much all meet long .. you're going to see slow naked fractions in those routes.

DrugS

I'm not interested in how fast they came home. What interests me is that the SPEED held on and they went 1-2 around the track. This seems to happen a lot up there. If they run more 'honest' early, this wouldn't be the case. 1:14 to 6F isn't slow for you? 49.68 isn't slow for you? Arabians can handle those 1st 2 splits.

The horse who was last early finished 2nd. But yeah, that pace was moderate - but not nearly as slow as the fractions made it appear.

No they can't...obviously.

Like I said - 1:13.72 would have been an even pace for that race. The pace was about 3 lengths slower than 1:13.72 and that aided the winner to victory. The fact that the winner was uncontested on the lead didn't hurt either.
