Default Experts shut out again

Just for fun I have been following the experts through the triple crown races by following the over 20 experts selections published in the DRF. The Derby and Preakness selections were awful enough but of the 22 handicappers listed in the Belmont selections not one had Drosslemeyer in the top 3 selections and only 2 of the 22 chose him 4th. One was Bill Tallon who did have the tri in his top 4, the other was Jay Hovdey who had the exacta in his top 4. Just a little exercise again to show what we already know that these races are not easy even for the "experts"

Speaking of the $1 tri, I thought it was rather short. Any thoughts?

I thought it payed fair because if you really look at the payout it was the 2,3,4th choices in reverse order. Needless to say I wished that I had the pick 3 or pick 4...wow!

I have some trash talking buddies who played a group pick 6 ticket today...guess what race they missed? Yep the Belmont....D.F.( they did a punch that cost close to $2400)

This is the same group that missed the Ultra pick 6 at Lone Star for the breeder's cup. I did not play a group ticket with them because I wanted Ghost Zapper...and they wanted to throw him out.
So I went for the pick 4 on my own which I hit, and they was pissed because on a $7500 ticket they missed a Million plus payout for being a bunch of idiots.

brought this thread out of mothballs for a reason. was listening to ATR the other day when Steve I guess either was mentioning this thread or maybe one like it and said he really hates to see something like this because the posters probably think its so easy to post winners as a public handicapper days in advance of a race and how good would they do etc. Steve, I dont know if you will see this or not but in my case that couldnt be further than the truth. I guess for about the last 2 years of Triple Crown races only I have been posting the results of the handicappers in the Drf. Mainly because I started to notice almost no one would pick the winner. No less the exacta or tri.. Most of the time myself included. The main reason for doing this wasnt to call them out or make anyone in particular look bad. I even would always mention the ones who did well. The main reason was to give beginning handicappers and all of those who have been handicapping for years a little reminder that even if you are an expert or someone paid to handicap picking these type races is not easy for them or any of us.

Very true Homer. Hitting or missing these have the same effect on your pocket as though you played a 5k claimer.

I completely agree.

It reminds me of when I worked on the floor of the Amex and every year before the Derby suddenly a ton of people wanted to know who I liked ( as though I had some clue ). I used to say why ask my opinion in some impossible 20 horse field when there are hundreds of better races to be betting.

Wow, I didn't know you worked at American Express.
