![]() ...I think he is certainly making his case for the best athlete to ever walk this planet - and a strong case at that....Wow...what a freak of nature....his win at Medina today in the PGA Championship wasn't even fair.....

![]() Well,I know that most great athletes have tried to play Basketball.I don't think the same is true for Golf. So,I think Tiger doesn't have to beat as many of the the same type of athletes as Jordon did.

Didn't that 16-year-old chick (Wie) make the cut in men's event? That's like Maria Sharapova making it to the 4th round on the men's side of the Australian Open. Yeah, those golfers are some athletes.....lol |

Man, this board is getting as poluted by haters as ESPN...I expect mindless crap from Coach, Seattle and a few others but man...if my memory is correct, doesn't MJ play golf (and quite well I might add), Charles Barkley, Strahan, actually most big-name athletes seem to enjoy golf...but none win tourneys against the pros. Comparing Wie...well, she is an absolute freak, I doubt MJ could out drive her! Of course Golf is a sport, it takes a tremendous amount of skill to even hit a golf ball in the right direction, and putting...!!! Regarding the original question...I think Tiger has made a bigger impact on kids than even MJ, he's introduced a whole new world to millions of them especially inner city minority kids. MJ was the most exciting, dynamic athlete ever imo...so, no, MJ was more dynamic, but Tiger will have a bigger sociological impact!

Somer I can be critical, but I also "love" too there are some horses, ballplayers, etc, I'm crazy about so call me a "hater" but the question was Tiger or MJ I picked MJ in fact some of that socialogical impact Tiger has is really negative not really by any doing of his own but now ya got every daddy and mommy wanting Little Bobby to be the next protege', the next Tiger Woods who goes on Bob Hope and says he'll be the best and does it he's 1 in a million, and the socialogical effect has been a false reality presented to children by their parents |

Sure it takes a lot of skill to be a successful golfer, but in what real sport can a 16yo girl compete successfully against the best male athletes?.....tennis?.....basketball?.....track & field?.....boxing? Golf is a game.....like bowling and billiards. |

Now, can you name me an NBA player that isnt at least a marginal athlete? Even one. The truth is...you cant. How about hockey player? Or football player? Or soccer player? Or tennis player? What other "sport" can you play where you can be drunk before the game is halfway over? In what other "sport" can an "athlete" like John Daly smoke cigarettes like a chimney WHILE he is playing? What do golfers do that would be deemed an "athletic" endeavor? Do they run? Jump? lift? does it take good reflexes? quickness of foot? heck- they dont even carry their own bags anymore and one guy can even ride around in a cart!!! Sure, it takes an amazing amount of skill to play golf. I play. But is it any more of a "sport" than archery? |

![]() Exactly, dalakhani
Frankly, if I was a pro golfer and some teenage girl made the cut ahead of me, I'd be pretty damn embarrassed.....and probably would seriously consider switching to another profession. |

![]() Please name the PGA Tour mens event that she made the cut in...has never happened, nor will it ever happen. I think she may have made the cut in an Asian PGA Tour event, but sh*t...I could make the cut in a few of those events. She simply does not putt well enough. I can say with certainty that I have spent more time around Michelle than the a great deal of the people on Derby Trail. She is an incredible talent that hits the ball just as far if not farther than alot of men on the PGA Tour, but that alone means nothing. Until she learns to win and improves her short game, she is wasting time on the PGA Tour. She is still 16...she needs to keep her ass on the LPGA tour and learn to win there so the tour will have a bona fide star waiting in the wings when Annika retires, which will be sooner than most people think.

You hit a perfect putt right on line, perfect speed its going in ...a grain of sand and a slight puff of wind and around the rim of the cup. God help me. And I suck so bad. Look at a guy like Charles Barkely who was an absolutely fantastic athlete. 6 foot 4 and he could get the ball over anybody down low. INcredible. Watch him swing the golf club and it will make you puke. Such a weird game. |
