![]() Great read. It matches what I just read in, "Game Change", although in much greater detail.
I recall during the election snippets of that came out into the public - one reason I started backing off on McCain. I thought a book by Paulson might be dull, I"ll have to read it, I guess ![]()

McCain's not the only empty suit con in D.C. Good to see BO finally starting to put some pressure on the "Party of No (Plan)"… |

![]() Rachel Maddow had a deal on today where she listed GOP Senator and Congressman, one after the other, who voted no to the stimulus package, calling it terrible for America - who then took credit in their districts for the stimulus funds they received, saying how many jobs it would produce, how wonderful the stimulus was, etc.
I have no respect at all left for the GOP. In the world of political spin, putting their own self-interest above country, they have set the all-time new low. Quote:

![]() It's not the GOP that's the problem. The Dems have a huge majority in the House and the Senate. And you can't get anything done. Keep blaming the GOP for everything, because at the rate your going that majority will get smaller and smaller.

![]() it's not the gop. it's not the dems. it's both. it's the lack of term limits, the sense of entitlement, the lobbyists, the lack of finanacial restraint, the sense that the money won't end, so spend, spend, spend. each blames the other, but they both engage in the same activities and behavior. all they worry about is themselves, and getting re-elected. each cries for bi-partisanship when the other holds the majority. each tells the other to sit back and take it, because they are in the minority. it's doing for party instead of country.
when anyone points the finger at one pol, i laugh because they always tend to defend 'their guy' when he does the same thing! how great the sin when someone else commits it. when the shoe is on the other foot, we hear but 'so and so does it more'. the other side is at fault. but each side is always 'the other side'!!! and we do our thing while the govt does theirs-with our money. the funniest thing tho, is when i read from someone that they trust one of our officials. you can't trust any of them. they aren't there for us, they're there for themselves!

Nobody voted against the stimulus and then said the stimulus was wonderful. What happened is that stimulus money was thrown at many many existing projects, projects that GOP members had actually previously supported, BEFORE STIMULUS. Now the administration is trying to take credit for all the jobs and admonish anyone for taking credit for it, just because they piled on the stimulus cash. Its disingenuous and a phony outrage. Only simpletons fall for this stuff. |

![]() And yes, the GOP is a major problem - please name one important item they've bothered to vote other than a block of no upon. What they are doing is unprecedented fillibuster abuse.

![]() Ive ordered my copy from Amazon. I think it will be quite interesting. It is obvious from excerpts and even from the interviews where he backtracks some that paulson doesnt have a very high opinion on Macain or Palin.
This will be one of the only Pro-Bush things I will ever say. The guy didnt screw around. If it was something or someone that he believed in, he went forward with it both guns blasting. More often than not, it seems that he made poor decisions but at least he made the bold moves...even if they were unnecessary or way late. His leadership in the fall of 2008 came way late. If he had made moves in august 2007 when things started to really lock up, the mess wouldnt have been as bad. As bad as that is, at least when he was finally convinced that we were in a dire situation, he didnt clam up. He made bold, unprecedented moves that he will never get credit for making. |

![]() I have to agree with you, that when Bush's advisers told him to move, he didn't dilly-dally, he moved. Perhaps his boldness of late stemmed from it's simply being late in his term.
Have you been keeping an eye on Britian? The investigation into the Iraq war? Speculation (probably won't happen) Bush could have to provide some information. I'm going to order the Paulson book, too, looks interesting. Game Change, although much of the "gossipy" stuff was made public when the book came out, is far more interesting and in-depth than that, talking about the candidates and inside their campaigns. It was worth it.

"I have opposed every stimulus plan that has come before Congress because it is simply bad policy, but if they pass, the communities in my district which are paying for them deserve to be equally considered in their benefits," Mr. Linder said. Once they passed this, then why shouldn't these Republicans not ask for it? Why do the people in need to be left out in cold? Why should it only go to the states that their Representative who voted for it only get it? This is the same BS on health care. When Nebraska and Michigan and whoever else get special consideration over all other states and left these states out in the cold from having the same deals.
