Default L'Oiseau d'Argent Needs a Good Home

I thought I would put this out here after some of the comments about Papi Chullo. L'Oiseau d'Argent is a 9 yo gelding. Winner of 9 of 31 races. Stakes winner of $350,000. Still has the mile turf record of 1:33.42 set in 2004 at Saratoga. I am told, the owner wanted him to have a good home after a series of minor problems (inflamed tendon, etc.). He needs a little rest
and could be retrained into a show horse or whatever. Gorgeous, big guy. And I can arrange for him to be transported, within reason.

Let me know or if you have any ideas, pass them along. Thanks.

He's a big and handsome horse with alot of presence but he's not exactly an easy or "quiet" type. He's a very keyed up animal. Of course, they may all be a bit different outside the racetrack environment. I always thought he'd be a sharp dressage horse because of his action and carriage.

you are right but they tend to relax once out of the race environment. He is gorgeous.

I remember the horse well from his days with Sir Michael Stoute over here. Won a maiden on his first start by 8 lengths or something and looked a really smart colt in the making. A big, strong, lengthy, really imposing horse.

Best of luck with finding him a good home.

L'Oiseau d'Argent and his former stable mate, Mister White Socks, went to New Vocations in Ohio a couple of months ago and were adopted out in record time. Folks said they had alot of interest as soon as they were put up on the website.
We also worked-out getting Like Now, 2006 Gotham winner (at 36/1) and second to Showing Up in the 2006 Lexington, and retired him on a farm in upstate NY. He's destined to be my wife's pony.

I saw the video New Vocations put up of Mister White Socks...he's going to make someone a very lovely show horse.

The barn I ride at is interested in reschooling ottbs for eventing, but we are all the way down in VA..

Like Now always struck me as looking like a nice potential riding horse. I hope he has a happy transition to a new career.

Thanks. He has been in a round pen. But he is already settling down. He has alot of personality. A 400K gelding who deserves a nice, long retirement. We had hoped he would make a good pony at the track for an outrider friend. However his joints are race worn and we wouldn't want to subject him to having to run real hard.

One of his old war buddies, Hotstufanthensome, just won the 8th at Monmouth in a very impressive performance at age 9.

Hotstuff looked great.

Echo, that's about what I recall of l'Oiseau from his racing days. He was tough in the paddock, post parade and even unsaddling.

He has always been a nice race horse. My trainer Bob Barbara has another super nice gelding in Interpatation. He is still racing good and I am sure he will never make the trip to mexico.

One of the few who broke his maiden in a grade 3. What was it like 36/1 or something? Had a great 2005 and had a solid third in the Sword Dancer in 2007 or 8 I think. It is great seeing these guys still running as well as knowing that they won't be abused or disrespected.
