Default Pictures from Aldebutante 9/14/2008

So, as everyone already mentioned it was a great time at Belmont. It was my first visit to the facility and my first impression was the size of it. I parked near the entrance from the LIRR and was able to peek at the track before I entered. I was at the 1/4 pole at the turn for home and boy was it a long way to the finish line. I took a moment to reflect just how great the thoroughbreds who have won the Triple Crown were and ferverently hoped that someday we will have another. I also hoped that the racing authorities don't change the dates and/or distances. It truly is a remarkable feat to accomplish.

Anyway, it was a beautiful day in Elmont NY. A bit hot and humid for my taste but I was thankful that there wasn't rain. Steve, as always, was the consummate host. Box seats for all.

We got to see Lieutenant Ron get beat (and Kelster get the exacta for that race). There are some pictures of him in the Aldebutante album.

There was a great turn out of DTers and everyone seemed to have a great time. Aldebutante was such a professional in the saddling area. She was calm, composed and collected. She has filled out since I saw her last in March.

There are some nice pictures of her after the race, covered in dirt. Aside from that I found it difficult to get really good photos. Coming down the stretch I could barely recognize her since our silks were covered in dirt.

There were lots of DT cameras going and I think we will see many more, and better photos from some of the other members. I am especially waiting for Tyler's pictures - he had several cameras with a variety of lens strenghts (which is definitely the way to go - switching lenses means losing the shot).

Again, another great DT outing. Thanks to all for making this a great day.
