Smile tampa bay derby exotic payouts?

i knw another thread asked this question but why do you think the payoffs for exacta and trifecta $64 and $438 were so low considering war pass ran out of the money both total pools were above normal and look at the show prices ?

Funny! I was about to start a thread on the topic Cassie..

Read Steve Crist's Blog entry explaining the why's and hows:

The exacta only paid $66 because if War Pass ran bad - BY FAR and away the most likely outcome of the race would become Big Truck 1st followed by Atoned 2nd.

The exacta did not pay suspiciously low - especially when you consider that the story/rumor of War Pass not doing so well for a day was circulating before the race.

The public will often box the top three horses in the race in Exacta's, and the top four in trifectas... so even if the favorite runs out a lot of tix have the 2nd, 3rd and 4th strings covered.

Crist's explanation seems very logical. I think the people who had it probably feel they should have been awarded more for having the guts to throw out War Pass.
