You might want to think about limiting yourself to only three cups of coffee each morning.

Very disheartening for Helen Pitts who is very upset. What exactly was David Randal's need to sell this colt? The guy is a multi-millionaire with a big operation. And since when is Pletcher a 'go to' guy for Satish Sanan? Cannot believe Randal, who apparently retains 20%, would not insist Face the Cat stay with Pitts. Just disgusting. Makes it hard to root for any horse when they are snatched up by the greedy and glory-desperate.

Tnteresting to note tat IAEH while purchasing Pure Clan will retain Bob Holthus as trainer aompared to this horse being transferred from Pitts. She is no Jamie Sanders.

come on steve...it's a business, and this guy is treating it as one....who cares what the owner is worth? sell them when the perceived value is at its height. I feel bad that Helen Pitts has lost another good colt, but if you own 20% you don't exactly get to insist on anything (unless it was put into the contract ahead of time).

and let me ask you this? if the horse had been with pletcher and bought and sent to Pitts would you be this outraged? my guess is no, because you like one and don't like the other.

I'm not outraged exactly.. just bothered by this troublesome trend. The Randal's have two dozen broodmares and farms in KY and CA. They've had some nice horses and for all they know, this could be as nice a horse as they've ever had. (Brother is the good Bear Character). I don't understand why they would be so compelled to sell. Why are they in the game? They have a homebred like this and Helen brings him along and they sell out?

But hey, I didn't understand Tafel's need to sell Street Sense or Porter's need to sell Hard Spun either... None of the parties referenced 'need' the money... I guess my sensibilities are just akilter.

Ah, Curlin was Horse of the Year. I'd say that worked out. I feel bad for Helen. She does a good job and now has a second nice colt whipped away. Tood is shallow this year. He has Monba and a grasser in Cowboy Cal but Check it Twice has gone wrong and is unlikely to make the ig day.

Most of the "sell" reasons fall under the guise of "it's business" (sure, there are variations, deviations, etc.). Some do it to "take money off the table" and that too is just "it's business" so to speak.

Same with WinStar. You do have multi-millionaires, multi-8 digit people, even 9 -- some do sell, some don't. It's a dynamic one cannot truly undersatand from afar, or even up close -- not unless you are truly in it.

As far as the Pitts/Pletcher aspect, Pletcher has been getting more and more support from Sanan (when he's flying solo). Regardless, who knows what went on behind the scenes. Whatever it is, it absolutely is disheartening.

Eric

Perhaps Mr Randal is a multi-millionaire because he has made sound business decisions in the past. Steve, the guy still keeps 20 pts and takes down a pay. I have no idea of the guys net worth but it is certainly never a bad idea to go south with a few chips and come back to the game with less exposure, we are talking about TB horses right?

If Ms. Pitts is a pro then she understands this is all part of the game that she has elected to make her living at. Wouldn't you think that she received some compensation from Randal as well from the sale?

what do you mean about these two? Isn't the natural progression for non-stud farm owners to sell their would be studs to stud farms?
