Default Arlington 2008 Stakes Schedule

Okay fellow Chicagoans, the weather might be ridiculous right now, but there are happier times just a few months away. They have released the schedule for this year's meet. There are a couple of new races this year (The American 1000 Guineas?) but it looks generally the same. Start marking your calendars:

I can't believe they are actually racing to September 21st. That last two weeks is going to be quite hilarious.

Anything on a Saturday is great, because I'm always there.

I always look forward to Prairie State day and Million Preview Day -- of course not to mention Million Day itself.

You going to finally make an appearance this summer with the DTers?

I have wanted to get my wife and her Mother up to Arlington for the past two years. This looks like the trip. I'll tell them that's what I want for my birthday. Go to Geno's East, get some lasagna, take her downtown shopping and I should be golden.

That has to be focused toward the new BC race, they have to be trying to get new graded status becuase they are losing races left and right.

The morons should have put the Washington Park to 12f's for that new BC race, but they don't think, they just eliminate the race

I mean, I figured out the rationale for the BC Sprint, but what a POS decision anyway when that race had drawn pretty damn good fields most of the time.

It's my wife that likes the lasagna. You know what I'm sayin. My choice would be a nice swordfish steak at the Cape Cod Room in the basement of the Drake Hotel. Manhattan Up, Arlington Million box seats, now this hillbilly could get excited!

Who knows what they are doing? What sense does it make to eliminate the Washington Park Handicap? I understand that it doesn't get the best fields, but place it correctly. NY already has its schedule out and you are owned by Churchill, you could easily put it somewhere where it meant something.

You're exactly right, it's like they packed their stuff up and went home. Big deal if they can't run the Washington Park at the end of the meet. It attracted decent, though not exceptional, fields in the past. I don't think that for a place like Arlington Park, having Lewis Michael win your signature dirt race of the meet is such a bad thing. He's the sort that fits the AP stakes schedule outside of Million Day.

Yuck.

I didn't even notice that there was no Washington Park Handicap this year until you guys mentioned it. That sucks, but it might be a one year thing. That race was gone for a few years in the late 90s too if I remember correctly. No Round Table Stakes this year either.
I very well might make an appearance with the DTers this summer, as I hope to make it out there a lot. I was there quite a bit last summer, and would have loved to have been there last year when Sumwon was running to meet everyone, but I was out of town that week.
I can't figure out what I am looking forward to more: Arlington starting or the 5 feet of snow melting.

I am definitely looking forward more to Arlington than getting rid of the snow.

Pretty much any Saturday you make it out there, there will be DTers hanging out.

Geno's East isn't far from Arlington; about 2 miles south, But lasagna? Gotta go with the deep dish.

Not for boys, but what about the G3 Matron and Oaks for girls?

Did I misread that?
